so im at system properties, and i noticed and it says...
[email protected] Ghz 1.00Ghz
that means my CPU is only outputting 1.00 Ghz... Im plugged in rite now... and lately ive been having stuttering in videos and video games. Not like gfx card stuttering, cuz the gfx runs fine in games... but the movie is divx, so its like encoding problems which stem from CPU... this has never happend before.. it startted like a few days ago. How do i get my processor to output 2.66?. I checked back again while doing heavy CPU stuff and its stuck at 1.00 ghz...?? help?
edit:Adding: I know about the whole multiplier thing with these computers, where it downclocks not in use (which may be why its showing 1.00Ghz). But i feel like its Not Re-clocking back to 2.66 wen it IS in use... like i said, in COD4, the gfx are fine, and so is the ping. But after a few minutes my ping rises, but its not my internet. ANd i kno its not Gfx card stuttering, its CPU. Dont ask me how i know, i just do after being a computer nerd, cuz the gfx are clean, no artifacts, and its a consistant stutter... im basically playin CoD4 at 1.00 Ghz processor.!

Check that your Windows power properties has not gone into a power saving mode. I use performance on demand, even on battery, and let the system manage the CPU speed.
If the power properties isn't the problem, then have a look at RMClock.

Might be that you accidentaly disabled the top multipliers on RMclock. If youve been using that

RMclock dont even work for me... "cannot load RTCore64 driver" i found a thread here that says it dont work for vista 64 so its not that. I download Intel.com's cpu utility and it says its running at the expected cores. I realized that the 1.00 Ghz might be the FSB... which is 1066 for me. What do you guys have under system properties after it says [email protected]d ... then wat..
for example, for me, its 6700 @ 2.66Ghz 1.00Ghz
question is, is the 1.00 the speed its at now, or is it the FSB? -
Only then RMClock will work and you will can select higher multipliers -

See this thread in the RMClock forum regarding RTcore64.sys.

If there is one option for Intel SpeedStep on the BIOS menu, you should disable it too.
That will make your CPU run at it max frequency all the time...
-
But remember, by running at max frequency , you will kill the battery fast. There is a reason for speedstep, and better battery life is one of them...

ill do anything to fix the problem... i just want my good old clear Call of Duty 4 gaming back.. this stuttering is driving me nuts... i cant play s**t. At first i thought it was my internet. But apparently my computer is probably causing the ping to shoot up... i thought ping was only internet >_<
-
ping is the time it takes for a signal to get from your copy of the game to the server and back so can be influenced by anything in that path - cpu->(ram?)->network card->router/switch->internet->servers net config and back again
-
well.. im thinking the hitch is the video card... i prolly fried it overclocking... games still work, buts its choppy. I ran drivercleaner and stuff and installed 175.16.. i prolly should have went back to 169.12, those were wat i used for the past six months no problems.. I just HAD to change drivers... my CPU used to says 2.66 the last few times i turned it on. Now its back down to 1.00. it doesnt know wat it wants.

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
That is strange.
CPU downclocked... says 1.0 ghz??
