Hello, i just got a brand new clevo p150em with the i7 3720

I did a fresh windows install and i installed ONLY factory disk drives

The problem is when i go windows index it doesnt show i7 3720 but Intel genuine 2.6 cpu...

ALSO on 3dmark11 it shows me a wired error and lower cpu score : AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Genuine Intel(R) CPU @ 2.60GHz,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P5610 3DMarks

Processor is not recognized (What is this?)

Do i have to update the bios? or anything else? (At clevo website i cant find a bios driver)

    Mine: bios revision: 1.00.05
    Kbc/EC firmware revision: 1.00.04

    any help?
currently using one from May 2012

EDITED: Only on cpu-z it shows the i7 3720

Is it an engineering sample CPU? I remember my 2920xm ES changing to that "intel genuine cpu" for some reason. What does it say in CPU Z under stepping / model /revision?

yep, you have an engineering sample CPU. If you purchased this with your laptop and paid for an OEM 3720qm I would complain to your seller, as ES chips are usually a lot cheaper.

did you buy this machine new or second hand? If new, you should demand an explanation. 3720qm ES can be nearly 100 euros cheaper than OEM version.

Contact your seller and demand an explanation. ES chips are cheaper for a reason, they are far less efficient and run a bit hotter so you'd get less performance out of them. Who's your seller?

kombuster does not stress your CPU, only GPU. with OEM 3720qm you should be able to run wPrime at all 4 cores (8 threads) at a near constant 3.4ghz. I dont think ES CPU will give you those speeds.

Yea... Ask why they put an ES in your laptop, ES wasn't originally for sale... Those are for testing purposes. You probably have the right to exchange for an OEM model.

If it's an ES, you'll see (ES) in the specification when looking up using CPU-Z.

You have been sold an engineering sample CPU. While there may be nothing wrong with the processor's functionality, it is not supposed to be sold with a brand new machine.

If you call Intel and report this incident of being sold an Engineering Sample CPU with a brand new laptop, they'll be in your corner for complaints. Here's the page for phone numbers: Phone Support

Choose Europe, and a whole bunch of numbers for different countries will load up.
