Hi I am thinking about getting a Sager NP8662 from rjtech with no CPU and getting one off ebay and installing it myself. The reason is the price: Q9000 is $390 from rjtech and Q9100-Q9200 are cheaper on ebay.

there are 3 q9200 QAVR on ebay right now, shipping from the UK for $330
    http://cgi.ebay.com/INTEL-CORE-QUAD...A?hash=item20acb6525c&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

How does that compare price vs. performance wise to the q9100 ES that Shirley is selling for $280?
    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Intel-Quad-...in_0?hash=item3ca449509a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

And are these 2 sellers selling the same chip that Shirley is selling, but for $200?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Core-QUAD...0?hash=item230221cca9&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

Am i correct in thinking that both of these CPU's will fit in the NP8662?

Are these CPU's the same quality as OEM processors?

Will rjtech send me everything in parts or are they able to install everything beside the CPU (ram, hardrive, etc.)?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help!

Those are all engineering samples, which are pre-production units that may have flaws and aren't warrantied at all.

I am willing to pay less and have the small chance that the ES is flawed.

The top two CPU's are good. Pick either one of them. The bottom two are QDRS, which do not have temperature sensors. Avoid those.

I see. Do you recommend getting the Q2000 and spending an extra $50?

I bought my QX9300 from shirley, good seller and a quality CPU. The QAVR is the best spec Q9200 too, I think. If you're prepared to handle the heat, I'd recommend it.

I think 3.0 -A is the quad compatible revision.

I'm more than ashamed to say that as a future computer engineer, but I don't find the "PM" button ='(
Read the FAQ about that but couldn't find it though
I think I need a privilege or something like that...

Haha, you follow in my footsteps then. I'm going graduate in computer engineering in, hopefully, the Spring semester. Yes, engineers are lazy like that. I was wondering the same thing when I first joined NBR too. I think you need five posts until you can gain access to PM. Just make bump posts in the Marketplace such as "nice price" or "great bargain" to get your post count up. Be sure to relogin after.
