    Hi

So my p170hm is being shipped to me as we speak and I was wondering if there is someway to connect my p170hm to my old, thick, 32 inch tv. My tv has S-video connection, Scart connection and composite connection.

So is there any cable and/or adapter combination that will work? I would rather not have any solution with some expensive converter so if there is any other way that would be great.

You will unfortunately need a converter like DucRome linked. The HDMI/DVI outputs on the P170HM are digital, while it sounds like your TV only has analog input (composite, S-video). That means that a simple cable won't do the trick as it can't change from digital to analog. Only a (usually powered) converter box will be able to change the signal to an analog one with the connections you need. You'll also notice a significant lowering of quality as well.
