Is there anyway to fix this dark streak without replacing the whole screen?

If it's a pressure spot from the bezel or lid, yes. Otherwise, probably not.

Remove the bezel and if it goes away some adjustment could help.

Still there with bezel removed, dang. Now I'm curious how I go about replacing this 1080p screen with the 4k or 1440p models. Seems the later two have 40pin connectors while mine is 30pin. Do I have to replace the connecting cable as well?

Cant plug 30 pins into a 40 pin socket and even if you could you would be kissing 1/3 of the bandwidth so yes a cable would be needed.
