I just bought a Clevo P650RE3 and it came (as part of a deal) with an mSATA installed. Now, I asked support and apparently it can have both PCIE and mSATA. Now, what I want to know is if can use both without one hindering the other? Because I want to dual boot and I would like to install the different OS on different SSDs (if possible and if it will work, never have tried it). So, is this possible? If not, or if it's a bad idea, could someone tell me what would be the best thing to do if I want to be able to dual boot? Thanks

You should be able to do this no problem, it would depend on what OS you plan to load on each

The laptop has 2x 2.5" ports and 2x m.2 ports. (mSATA is an old slot standard which is no longer used in our machines)
You can have what ever you like in the 2.5" bays so long as they physically fit. The M.2 slots can EITHER have 2x SATA based M.2 OR 1x PCI-E M.2.
If you have either 2.5" bay free you could order a 2.5" to M.2 converter and use it that way if you want to mix and match. -

So the other one has to be mSATA too? Since mine already has an mSATA. That or get another 2.5'' SSD?
Edit: Correction, m.2 SATA*Last edited: Jul 12, 2016 -

Yes, if you have one sata m.2, then the other m.2 would need to be sata as well. Or you you could put a 2.5" SSD in there regardless of what you have in the m.2 slots.

Each device is its own drive so you can do the same as any other machine with separate drives. All are bootable in any configuration that works.
NTripleA likes this.
Can I install both an mSATA and a PCIE SSD?
