Can I upgrade the GFX Card in a NP8255-S to the GTX980M ?

How easy is the upgrade ?

How much is the GTX980M ?

Is it a straight forward GFX Card Upgrade or are there many things to mod ?

    Thanks

    Dr. David Bowman.

You should be able upgrade to GTX 980M with Prema's help. (modified bios)
[BIOS & MODS] Prema Mod / Latest stock BIOS

Pretty easy. You will need update to Prema's modified bios first. So do that before removing your old video card. Updating the bios is not difficult. Just make sure to READ the instructions or you could brick your laptop.

    Take off the back cover.
    Remove the heatsink and fan.
Remove the screws for the video card and the card (about 4 screws I think).
    Replace with the GTX 980M.
    Repaste the GPU.
    Replace the back cover.

Dunno how much the GTX 980M will be. First ones out the gate will be expensive, several hundred dollars. If you can wait a couple of months you will save some cash. Prolly at least $200 to $300.

Just the system bios needs an update for it to work.

    You are welcome.

The rumor is that it works even without a modded BIOS, but there is no official support from Clevo, so any warranty status may be considered annulled upon installing the card. Further, without official OEM support, it is unlikely your reseller will offer technical support.

Since the cards have only recently debuted, there aren't many first hand reports of compatibility and stability in previous Clevo models yet.
