The laptop runs on 970m/980m but am not sure if it has Optimus. I would get an external G-Sync 144hz monitor for it and want to know if it would work.
I know the GPU supports G-Sync but also knows that laptops with Optimus can't run G-Sync.

Also, do you guys know the LCD panel model it comes with?
It's a 15.6" Matte Full HD IPS LED Widescreen (1920x1080) but I don't know the LCD panel make and model.

It should have optimus and the G-sync would just depend on the screen used as the GPU is G-Sync certified. It should work with the 144Hz monitor without a problem.

The LCD panel would just depend on who is taking it from a barebones to a end product and what they decide to use, it would be best to check with your reseller on that.

My supplier has options for the 3 cards. I am going with the 980m, so probably RG chassis

External G-sync should work fine in dedicated mode.

Aren't the external ports connected via the igp? If so, will gsync really work?

Not quite true. The external ports are pernamently connected to the dGPU. The switch is only to change the internal display between dGPU mode and MSHYBRID mode (what we are more familiar with as Optimus).
