Since Sager NP9262 is a desktop replacement and have 4 fans, will it be able to withstand the heat generated if i's kept on 24/7/365? My $ years old desktop has been on for approx. a year and I have never shut it off(crazy electr. bill tho) for gaming purpose.

Just wondering about the heat issue. Let's say I keep it on with a game opened.

well interesting you brought this up, i have my beast on 24/7 for mostly a couple of weeks (2.5 weeks is the longest i have kept it running so far) as i do most of my downloads on it and also music streaming and Folding etc. mind you i have a notebook cooler underneath it and so far no problems whatsoever, programs still open snappily and i drain the battery once in a while too.

i wouldnt reccommend leaving it on continously though, you will get a lot of dust built up in the vents. i clean it out bout every month or so.

maybe your m15x isnt faulty, then you can let it run for as much time as you want

I wouldnt recommend leaving any computer on all the time... since it will degrade the lifespan of the system.

You should get a dedicated server with sufficient cooling if you want a system to run 24/7.

If you want a smaller power supply, get a small form factor workstation (like a Shuttle or m-ATX system)... or get a slimline server.

Notebooks can be left on all the time, but you have to realize that they need to be cleaned out (the dust will collect and clog the vents). Once every 2-3 months is when you need to clean out dust if you are using it moderately. If you are using it 24/7 you will probably have to check every week.

    Not recommended by me.

I personally shut down my laptop every night. Startup is quick... (well, after making a few adjustments to the registry and stuff :D, not advised unless you know wat your doing)

but i have noticed for me, that it does seem to get slower if i leave it on for long periods of time... like if i leave it on for 2 days straight. It'll just run slower. WHy? i dont know. so i just restart and it works fine.

You can indeed keep it running as much as you want and if you don't care about money get a new one (it's a laptop not a person for Christ's sake). If you do...take care of it.

It can run 24/7 , but as Gophn said, it would require a lot more attention than a regular desktop.
And as FTB said,it`s a computer, you are supose to use it,and since you paid for it, heck , abuse it :p
I like to take care of mine, run max fan quite often(got used to it) and clean it monthly, and follow all the cooling tips by the book.

My HP nx9420 had some 3 months of non stop usage, but then again, that laptop is quite sturdy and did not really care if it`d break or not.
A gaming laptop however is expensive, and that power needs a lot of attention.
If you do intend to run it 24/7, get a notebook cooler and perform monthly dust cleanups.

Yea the heat on the m15x would call for faster wear and tear especially if your leaving it on for extended amounts of time.

I think 9262 can take it if you have a cooler.
