Dexgo,
I will try to get to this tonight if possible. I had minor issue last night and took a few hours to work out. Hopefully I can get to it tonight. Just quick glance and I would say Bioshock is close. I think I do a bit better on Oblivion though. But it has been a while since I played. -
Here was paladin44's info on the 8700M GT vs the 7950GTX.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=138414 -
Wu Jen,
Its time to update that sheet with newer scores. I am not sure how much the 7950 has increased but I can say that I am seeing a lot more than what is listed on that sheet. As the drivers mature the DX10 cards performance increase. As well as the older DX9 cards. I am just more curious now to see if the performance increase is proportional or if there is a disparity. I no longer have access to 7900 cards just the 7600 and 7400 so the comparison is already stretched. Even without overclocking I can beat that score on a single card for the 7950 at 1920x1200. -
I dont go by 3dmark.
at all..
Real World Benchmarks are what matters.
you can get 10,000 marks and not be able to beat someone who gets 6000 in some cases.
sho me some Bioshock Crysis or Oblivion Benchmarks.
1900x1200. 1600x1050
cumon. fraps is free.
post some benchmarks. -
cool, remember though. Oblivion is Maxed every single detail to the MAX with V-sync on.
oh I forgot. I am using the natural enviroment bumpmap mod.
it is easy to d/l and install for free. it takes away like 10 fps but makes things look much better.
Can you please POST some Crysis Benchmarks @ 1600x1050 and 1900x1200 all medium.
and then some medium shaders/medium shadows and everything else on high? -
LOL j/k. -
128 bit BUS those 8700's have. that's what is holding them back. and why I have been matching and even exceeding them with single card.
if they had 256 bit bus. I would get destroyed. -
-
-
i know i was jokin wit u too -
what's funny is theres nobody who posts any FRAPS benchmarks. I guess my single 7900gtx is king huh?
-
you're running on single?? I assumed you had SLI...that makes the score even better. Still waiting on the OP who said he'll post 1920x1200 results back on page 2 of this 7 page thread lol.
He's probably busy brushing up on his photoshop skillz -
Here's one with 8700's in SLI if anyone is interested. Specs in my sig.. 169.21x64
-
still no FRAPS.
3dmark doesn't mean anything.
show me some scores with your 8700's beating my single 7900 please -
-
Crysis Dx9/32bit (too many problems with dx10/64bit) All high except shadows set to medium. 1680x1050.
-
thanks, just the Fraps would have been fine. screen shots aren't needed.
-
dexgo,

DjSkrilla89,
Good screen shots by the way. Keep em coming. -
Thx Kl5167, I'll try and get a hold of oblivion and bioshock so I can post some stats aswell. Need to install Adobe so I can post some better screenshots too
Hopefully I can expect the same performance in Oblivion. Interesting to see what the gains are with ur quad over my duel sense we have almost same setup. Which drivers are you using? -
I would expect the performance to be the same. It is the best I have seen thus far. Just beware of bioshock it is out on the edge and just down right freaky at times.
-
that's with 1900x1200 every absolutely maxed as far as it can go HDR with Vsync on? -
Throw some Crysis @1680x1050 and 1900x1200 Shadows/Shaders medium everything else to HIGH.
-
Ok I went back and double check the only difference is vsync off. With vsync on it will cap it at 60fps because the refresh rate of the the lcd panel. SInce I don't have any tearing on my lcd I forgot about it.
Edit:
I wish I could run Crysis but I can't get my hands on a copy right now. Hopefully it will show up next week. I think I have a copy on its way. If not I will order a copy in a couple of weeks. -

Sorry guys, I have been quite busy... My new daughter was just born, so thats where I have been putting my time too..

The one thing I like about 3dmark is that you actually test the same schenes to benchmark.
Right now your asking to benchmark randomly, which is not the way to test 2 cards... So you can basically fudge those settings by looking up in the air and getting the highest framerate..
When I posted earlier, I asked where you were doing your benchmarking.. Which levels... you still haven't answered that question.
Another thing is... Your card is not a directx 10 card.. So you won't get the level of detail an 8700 will get.
Dexgo... Please take a screen shot to show what the detail looks like so we can compare...
Also look at your temps.... If your GPU is running at 95... and mine is running at 70.... Which one is more reliable??
I still have not seen any other 3dmark06 scores except for WuJen's and his were really close...
If you compare mine with his, this is what you get..
Mine
SMS 2.0 4638
HDR/SM3.0 4441
CPU 3858
His
SMS 2.0 4634
HDR/SM3.0 4415
CPU 2574
The SMS2.0 and HDR/SM3.0 scores are extemely close....
Whats nice about 3DMark06 is that you are accurately comparing two systems with the same scenes..
If we can do this with different games.. are tests will be more accurate.
I will also post my score for 1920x1200 in 3dmark06 when I get some time...

I bumped up my core clock some more with my shader clock....
My new setting are:
Core Clock: 781
Shader Clock: 1875
Memory Clock: 1000
The old ones were:
Core Clock: 770
Shader Clock: 1848
Memory Clock: 1000
Here's the crysis benchmark..
2007-12-28 11:12:28 - Crysis
Frames: 2489 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 41.483 - Min: 35 - Max: 44
For kicks I am going to kick it up some more..
Also...
I would ask some people to be respectful of others.
I have read some posts that are flat out childish..
This thread was started for fun to compare the two...
It wasn't for putting people down and for comparing who is more of a techno geek.....
So please be courteous to others.

Here's the newest fraps...
My new setting are:
Core Clock: 806
Shader Clock: 1875

Frames: 2720 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 45.333 - Min: 42 - Max: 47
Joe -
DirectX10 is very overrated atm.
-
Wu Jen,
Have you compared a directx10 and a directx9 card using the same game???
I am interested in seeing screenshots to compare them...
I haven't tried the same game on the different cards, so I am making assumptions on that.
I do remember reading an article on it and it showed the differences..
Joe -
reliable? my card runs fine at those temps buddy. thats the operating temps.
I have been going for months like that.
dx10 doesn't matter. you aren't using very high settings to get the benefit anyway. not that it's that great.
I am in the recovery section dude. playing the game killing dudes.
ask anyone even CHAZ. the 8700's are medium end cards. they can't beat a sinlge 79x0 card. yes 2x can't beat 1 card.
128 bit memory bus. vs 256bit bus.
I have went against countless 8700's now. and guess what. I have beat every single one of them.
I am actually playing the game when benching.
yes my card is hella OC'd. but I put AS5 on it. and it runs fine.
oh, and I tweaked my bios a bit more with delta clocks. and now my highest temps are 85 degrees. -
Did you look at the fraps I posted?
Joe -
I have went against over 10 dual 8700s.
I don't care what you posted.
I know what the 8700 can do.
there's no way you could do that @1900x1200 without tweaked autoexec.
for real.
with all medium settings or all medium and set to high.
unless you did what you said and just staired at the wall.
the 8700s I have seen oc'd in their best case scenario could do maybe 32fps with all medium @1900x1200.
./thread -
seriously. your 128 bus just can't do it.
analogies aside.
it just can't
and what makes you special? how come your cards do much better like over 10fps better than all the other dual 8700's ?
Let other people Truly post their fraps with 1900x1200 all medium even. I bet it will be 30-32fps max. (like your first benchmark) I believe that to be true.
not the second one tho. +10fps..
the first one fits what your card can do maxed out. as I have seen in 10 other dual 8700's.
and 2 of them I have benchmarked with personally. -
interesting haha. -
I love it...
I post my scores...
And now I get you saying bs...
I have been open and honest about all of my testing...
I have come to the conclusion that no matter what if the 8700 does beat the 7950... You will never believe it...
You have also not answered any of my questions...
Show me what your card looks like in the game and then show a directx10 shot... I bet the directx10 shows more detail....
Also run a 3d mark2006 to see what your score is..
Look at the thread, it was orinally all about 3dmark2006 scores....
You hijacked the thread about FRAPS.. and I really don't think its an accurate way to compare...
You have never told me what levels to play at or anything that has to do with gameplay... Different levels and different parts of the games will show different rates...
Joe... -
go to the recovery level run 3 runs of 1900x1200 all medium.
that's all.
play the game. break the houses. go down the road and kill some people.
run that test.
I just didn't believe cuz the first test was about what I have seen all the other 8700's do. 10 of them.
and then you post another one and it's 10fps more.
i wish I knew how to grab 10 fps that's 30% increase
understand? -
I said the first Fraps was good. what all the other 8700s I have seen could do.
like I have said, I haven benched alot with 10 other dual 8700s.
all of them have been the same to a T.
and then you have one that steps out of the line... what makes him different? and you could say I am doing a Study.
like scientists. when they are doing experiments when 10 in a row are the same. and then they do an 11th and it's different. something must be wrong.
thanks for posting your fraps. I apologize for saying the things I said.
I said what I have needed to say. I seen 10 benchmarks and the 11th is off the chart so to speak.
maybe you can explain what you are doing to get better FPS.
that would be cool. I am sorry for jumping the gun. Please tell us your drivers and or tweaks to gain 30% better frames per second.
perhaps we can learn from this. others with the dual 8700's might want to know how to gain 10fps -30% increase to get more FPS out of their units.
Drivers/tweaks/oc's. would be cool. -
You´re one lucky guy...my 8700 can only reach (stable) 750/1850/1000...
-
Im hoping that my m570ru which is coming w/ the 8800m will beat the 10K barrier w/ stock drivers.
Here is my config
X7900
4 GB 800 Mhz
200 GB SATA II 7200 RPM
8800 GTX
Running XP SP2, and maybe SP3 (devoloper's version) -
3dmark means absolutely nothing. in the real world.
it's just e-peen. -
it's all processor baby... yeah..
I get 6000+ now. whatever that means.
+2000 marks for better processor thats 8000+..
lol
funny thing is... in gaming the processor is only utilized 1/3 of what power it has. when you have those uber killer proc's like quad core and stuff.
it helps inflate your score. yipeee-peeeen -
What are you getting on the graphics scores with 3dmark2006?
I am in the middle of things, so I will try to explain what I have done to acheive the scores...
Joe -
steponz we have already shown that my original post was correct. The 8700's fall short on 3dmark06 at 1920x1200 resolution. That is what I posted and I haven't seen you 3dmark06 scores at 1920x1200 to beat it. Kl5167 posted his scores and mine (even taking into account my worse processor) still beat it. The 8700's choke on higher resolutions vs the 7950's and when you start to add in 2x AA and 4x AA they bog way down. That was my original point and it's still valid. Unless you'd care to post your 3dmark06 scores and prove me wrong. Maybe your setup is better than everyone elses.
-
since like I said 10 other dual 8700's barely even get close to 30fps oc'd or at that res. - and they were running all medium @that res.
like I said.
Start of Recovery Level. 1900x1200 all medium.
run into the beginning of level. smash some houses then run down the road and kill those guys at the roadblock. (looking straight ahead in the open)
60second tests.
post 4 of them along the way.
the other folks with the dual 8700's could barely scrape 30fps @ 1900x1200 when oc'd.
unless you are using an custom Autoexec.cfg. -
Wu jen, You proved nothing... Ill run your test when I reinstall 3dmark again..
Remember when guys wanted me to post scores that weren't photoshoped??
I think my last fraps is more of a best of what I could get not being stable..
I tested the same oc settings and I couldn't get it to stop hanging after playing around for a while...
So the best stable I can get is:
2007-12-30 23:43:14 - Crysis
Frames: 2293 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 38.217 - Min: 32 - Max: 42
Core Clock: 781
Shader Clock: 1875
Memory Clock: 1000
The frame rates go up quite a bit when raising the Core Clock..
I am also wondering if SP1 had something to do with it....
And I am also running the .21 drivers.. set to force alternate frame rendering 2.
I still don't think this is an accurate test, we would need to run the same exact sequence of events to test both systems..
3dmark accurately reflects different sequences...
I really wish they would change it to reflect newer games that test the cards...
Joe -
I am still 100% happy with my 7900gtx oc'd.
I murdered every single 8700 dual or single I have came up against. Except yours. so 10 out of 11. My tests are complete.
Until the 8800's are abound in every laptop standard. I think I will be OK.
besides you didn't post what I asked.
4 tests 1900x1200 all medium
anyways. i'm retired. I will be more than happy with what ive got.
I am more interested in HIDEF anywayz I got a new HD DVD and Blu ray burner to play with.
adios -
Can anybody with the 7950 SLI beat my 11056 3DMark2006 Score?
