Can anyone point me on the right track?

I've read through a few posts here and i'm struggling to know where to start. I've downloaded CCleaner and Driver Sweeper, but before I butcher my machine I thought i'd make a topic on here first. Please read it all.

I own a Clevo P150EMx (BIOS Revision: 1.00.04) on Windows 7 with an AMD Radeon HD 7970m which works with my Intel HD Graphics 4000 as Switchable Graphics.

My HD 7970m is using the Driver that came with the machine, it's currently using Version 8.951.6.0 (Dated 29/03/2012).

I'm trying to update my drivers as some newer games are seeing graphical bugs,FarCry 3 plays great, but I see loads of graphical bugs, and my brother who owns an Alienware updated his driver by manually switching his graphics card over to be able to update them and its fixed his problems.

I've tried using the AMD Update tool, but as my dxdiag is always showing me as having an Intel graphics card, my AMD Catalyst update tool says I don't own an AMD Card and won't update.

I've tried updating using Windows 7's 'Update Driver' option in the Device Manager, which updates the driver, but gives me random Blue Screen of Deaths, so I rolled back to my manufacturers drivers.

I've also manually downloaded and installed the latest "AMD Catalyst 12.11 Beta8" but this also causes me BSOD and/or my games will just crash.

Is there anything I can do? I feel like i've wasted loads of money, and time (I waited a month just to get this AMD Card) on all of this.

I've read so many different things where people talk about disabling PowerPlay and uninstalling everything but I don't want to end up with a £1500 brick.

You can try changing the graphics settings in your BIOS from "dynamic" to "fixed", if you have that option (it varies from one BIOS to another). This should specify the system to use strictly the discrete GPU, rather than switchable graphics. Then you can try reinstalling the catalyst drivers.

If that doesn't work, then avoid the catalyst update tool, and instead try manually installing the driver through the Add Hardware Wizard (if all else fails, do a clean reinstall of the driver in Safe Mode).

    Hi.

Tried rebooting and going to Setup but no option to change my VGA Card.

My BIOS says my Graphics Card is my Radeon HD 7970m but thats not what dxdiag says.

I've had a good read of all 14 pages and done a ton of reading on the Guru3D forums but don't feel any wiser.

Well, since BIOS wasn't the key, then have you tried the clean reinstall of the driver by itself? And as a second resort, in Safe Mode?

Which driver should I attempt to install? The Enduro drivers i've been linked, or the latest Beta ones?

They're two separate drivers that hold two separate functions. For your in-game graphical bugs, you should try the latest stable or Beta video driver. The Enduro might help, but I'm going off intuition that it's less likely it will than the former (still try it though).

Make sure your download is for your current operating system and CPU architecture (32-bit/64-bit).

The enduro drivers clean up switching behaviour and help performance in particular titles.
