I emailed Sager with some service questions about my 5720 (just want to make sure everything's OK before I start installing my entire life on it) and a guy just emailed me back with answers. I'm away from my laptop for a couple of days and I need to confirm some stuff, so any contributions will be much appreciated.
1) I told them that the 2 USB ports on the side of the laptop were loose, in that the mouse stays connected but the ports themselves wobble from side to side an unacceptable amount. They do feel incredibly loose. Sager emailed me back with:
" The USB port on the side compare to the rear side is kind of loose, but that is manufacture designed , so can't be change"
Can someone check theirs to see if they're loose as well? In my experience, USB ports on laptops tend not to be as loose as this. I find it quite startling that they would say they're designed to be loose and can't be changed!
2) My keyboard, while solid in most places, flexes doown quite a lot around the Backspace area when keys are pressed there, and to some extent the top of the numeric keypad also. It feels like there isn't anything supporting the keys here. Definitely not what I'd expect from a $2300 machine. Sager said:
" Make sure the keyboard lock are all lock in, you can check just above the F1, F7, PrtSc and * key have a tiny lock.
Can someone confirm this for me? I didn't notice the locks. Does anyone else have keyboard flex here?
3) My CD tray is very loose when fully extended and seems to have a lot more side to side movement than the trays on other laptops I've owned. Sager say this is normal. How are everyone elses?
I guess if everyones ports are loose, there's no point sending it back - which is kind of a relief since I was really enjoying the thing! Fantastic gaming performance......

My USB ports on the back of my 5320 are a bit loose . . but not unlike other laptops. From the sound of it, yours must be pretty loose.
About the keyboard - that's not a manufacturing defect, it's normal. A lot of laptops keyboards flex. -
Yeah, the USB ports on my Averatec wobble as well, but not as much as on my Sager. It's funny that the support guy said that the ones on the side wobble more than the ones on the back and that there's nothing they can do about it.
As for the keyboard - I know they flex a little on notebooks, it's just that mine seems to flex way too much in the top right quadrant. I'm typing this on my old Averatec which is renowned for poor build quality and it doesn't flex nearly as much. I guess all I can do is wait to get home and see if indeed my keyboard locks aren't on, like the tech guy suggested.
Mind you, none of this would ever put me off recommending the 5720 - I can't tell you how much I've been blown away by its performance so far. Definitely a cut above every other machine I've seen or used!
Can some fellow 5720 owners help me out!
