I notice there is an IR Transceiver in the 5760.
I am wondering if one can use it so you do not have to use the included IR Blaster that comes with the XP MCE Remote.

I have XP MCE 2005 as my OS and would be great if I can use the XP MCE Remote by just using the IR Transceiver built-in with the 5760.

Anyone have any idea on this? and how it can be done if it is possible?

Well, I contacted Sager and they said the person I talked to said he is not sure if it is possible and if it is possible he does not know how.

There are some options for it when you go to:
START ==> Control Panel ==> Printers & Other Hardware ==> Wireles Link ==> Hardware ==> Properties ==> Advanced Tab

Technically speaking, isnt a IR Transceiver suppose to be able to pick up and interpret IR Transmission from a device?

Have a feeling I may need to find some updated driver for the IR Transceiver and possibly some software for my XP MCE Remote.
My XP MCE Remote is OEM from Newegg so it didn't come with any manual for it :(
Anyone have any idea where I can find a manual and stuff for the XP MCE Remote?
This is the one I have at this time for it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16880100853

    PS:

What is FIR (Far Infrared) communication?
Because it says its a IrDA Far Infrared Port or soemthing.

"Far Infrared" refers to the outer range of infrared waves, just above normal infrared but just below microwaves.

The IrDA port on your laptop is intended for data communications with other devices (laptops, pocket PCs, cell phones, etc) at rates up to 4 Mbps. It is not intended to send or receive the infrared pulses used by remote controls so I doubt you'll be able to get it to do that.

If you did manage to (by some type of driver hack, etc) the range would be fairly poor because the two technologies use different parts of the IR band.
