Like on Alienware (function keys Fn + F7 and reboot)
Enduro causes a significant loss of performance. With Enduro disabled (function keys Fn + F7 and reboot), games run with dozens of fps more

We can confirm what mythlogic said. Clevo already showed benchmark and gaming scores with the P370EM (which will not support Enduro) and the results were on par with the P150EM/P170EM.
So Clevo has no performance problem with Enduro! Maybe this information should get stickied somehow or added to all reseller's FAQ. -
That is false. Read through this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/671191-7970m-gpu-utilization-games-benches.html
People are saying some games do not use as much GPU as they should. Enduro is causing performance problems. -
To be fair, its unknown at this point whether its Enduro thats causing this issue, but it certainly looks a lot like Enduro related problem on m17x r4. Also, so far all people who reported this issue are using p150em, so maybe its something to do with p150em bios?

no my one with problem is np9170

Hope AMD will release the Enduro poweroff feature in future drivers..

nope, 95% matte does exist, its quite a popular option

As ive posted in some other threads, most notably, metro and bf3 run fine, but dirt 3 and dirt showdown only have the gpu at 60-80% usage and i get 30-40 fps lower than alienware users. Dirt Showdown getting 20fps average on ultra settings was particularly disheartening. -
Man we are talking about the Enduro disabling here....
And please check what you are posting before saying something exist or not. It will prevent you from posting bull****.

In my opinion, this drop off has a lot to do with no official drivers being released yet. I have a feeling that there are quite a few bugs with the first generation of automatic Enduro and that when official drivers come out they should at least fix some of the problems.
At least.. I'm hopeful we shall say.
Off topic: I am reppin' you for your giveaway True, you deserve a few more rep points for that even if I did not enter to get one. -
-
However at the same time I think much of this may depend on when we actually get official drivers out. It is easy to forget that the current drivers are non-supported, non-official drivers. It blows my mind that the cards are out and AMD has yet to release actual drivers. That may be where the petition needs to go. -
-
I mean... could we contact AMD directly for some answers or an ETA? Or is that just a pointless route?
-

It kind of feels like we're getting a dummy phone with no software... 1ghz of pure awesome and we can only make/receive calls... cmon AMD new drivers pl0x.
Giving users the ability to control Enduro will be most beneficial as these laptops are used for DTRs and not for having a ton of battery life anyway, this is what happens when you rely on manufacturers to make their own drivers as well. -

Does the mobo even have muxes to allow the dedicated chip to output as well? If not it cant be disabled no matter the software.
-
-
Right but AMD/Intel must surely be able to control Enduro at the driver level.
If so that's what we want. -
heres hoping that something can be done to turn it off. It's really throttling performance on a lot of games for me. Maybe a 680m for $300 more isnt a bad prospect, since the 7970m cant be run at full power.
Cmon Amd, make me happy. -
-
If they have the ability to make it more efficient, they must inherently be able to control what Enduro is doing.
Thus if they can control what it's doing they should be able to offer a minimum and maximum setting etc. -
I read somewhere that the 7970m cards made specifically for the p150/170HM series have enduro disabled via a different vbios so they can work in those laptops. Perhaps you guys could test if those work in the EMs? I wish I could post the source but I can't find it at this moment.
Edit: found the source but it won't work for the EM series.

Soo.. the EM series are fcked?
Who the hell makes these decisions to not add these features? That guy needs to be fired asap! -
The iGPU may be the dedicated display controller, but Enduro doesn't just run magically. Hardware needs software to do its job. You can't run a video card without drivers, and every video card has a vbios like Quasar said. Enduro is the software, and software can be updated, and the vbios can be updated as well. All they have to do is make sure that Enduro properly manages resources, and a quick fix would be to include a database in the code of well known, intense games, and make sure the GPU is set to full power when running those applications. Right now we may not want Enduro on, but if it were working 100%, which it eventually will, all of us would want it on. It is a brilliant idea and saves battery life big time.

Is there a setting somewhere to tell it to use the dGPU for everything, even the Windows desktop, explorer, etc., rather than ask each time or needing to set each program individually?
-
Seriously that's a pity that AMD doesn't provide an Enduro Disabling feature on their drivers working on all rebadged cards...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You cant disable it without loosing your displays so why would they include that?
-
If not corrected through drivers soon, would not the best way to go about solving this issue be by adding a drop-down menu in application profiles to force either iGPU or dGPU rendering?
Not the most elegant solution, but it would work, until the driver issues were ironed out, wouldn't it? Seems like that would be a better route of suggestion to AMD than disabling Enduro altogether, since apparently that isn't possible on certain configurations. -

You can currently manually profile games.

Any comments from the resellers/builders on real game performances being affected, more specifically the games being mentioned in this thread like BF3? I would imagine they are testing these laptops prior to shipping.
-

Yeah which is a blatant lie.

Well, actually I can't use GPu-Z nor MSI afterburner to monitor actual frequencies just to see if overclocked worked....

How are you guys all finding your 7970M based laptops now it's been a couple of weeks since you were posting on this thread?
I've recieved mine last Friday (4 days or so in my possession) and I have the following issues with Enduro
The card is excellent and very powerful and cool and quiet and a good $200 cheaper than the GTX680M which isn't that much more powerful and the laptop is excellent overall.
It's just the things that are lacking from Enduro I'm not happy with.
1. No visual indication of which card is running - at a glance I should be able to see if it is running the Intel 4000 or the 7970M.
2. No ability to manually enable/disable the 7970M only (as per this thread's OP)
3. CCC doesn't list all the apps in the switchable graphics section - it should list ALL the apps/games installed and then allow me to specify from there the choice of High Performance or Power Saving
4. So far only picks up maybe 70% of the games I've tried. You have to manually add the others - refer back to point 1.
5. AMD's mobility driver (Catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util) doesn't have the 7970M in it yet?? and therefore gives me an error:
AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatable hardware/software on your computer. The version of your graphics adapter is not supported.
Please contact your notebook manufacturer for a graphics driver update.
6. GPU-Z hangs at the splash screen UNLESS you have "activated" the 7970M by running something like MSI-Kombustor in the background.
My biggest fear is that AMD doesn't support the 7970M with their AMD Catalyst Mobility drivers so we are only ever reliant on Clevo or cludges...
Does anyone know if the 7970M in the Clevo P150EM will be supported by AMD Catalyst Mobility drivers going forward?
Or if AMD are working on improving the Enduro software?
I need to know ASAP so I can make a decision about getting this machine boxed up and returned to have a GTX680 put it in it as I have read that Optimus support from Nvidia is much better. -
My guess you will be reliant on Clevo because AMD probably can't include Intel drivers in their official driver distributions. You'll have to get them from Clevo.
-
How often do you think they will release new drivers and would that be the case if I had the GTX680M or GTX675M instead or can you use Nvidias drivers with those cards?
-
No idea, maybe something is going on and AMD will have native support for 7970M with Intel CPU's in the future.
I'm just speculating here. As you can tell, my speculation is useless. Only way to know is just to be patient and see what happens. As it is for now, I can deal with clicking Kombustor, it takes less than a second for me to press a mouse button. -
Yeh it's just that my Dell Vostro 3300M didn't get driver updates from Nvidia - only from Dell and there was only one of those at release...and that was it...18 months later still using the same driver it had at birth.
I guess I just want to know that someone, somewhere is working on improvements. Even if we only see one every 6 months...but it's designed for the 7970M and works on my P150EM then I will be happy.
Just don't want to be left with this one Clevo driver and never see another again. Once bitten, twice shy and all that -
is there yet any way to solve the problem ?
Thank you
excuse me it seems my question is almost repetitive .
please apologize me
Can we disable Enduro in Clevo with 7970?
