If you are getting one from Xoticpc or one of the retailers, you can specify that you want a BD drive. Email them. They should be able to get you what you want.

I am not sure but optical drives should be all in a standard size and thus should fit into the Sager or any laptop. You could basically get any laptop-blu-ray drive and fit it into the Sager imho.

If I am mistaken, please correct me...

yes, most optical notebook drives are standard having the same IC.

you can contact the vendor to see which model they sell or have available to them.... then go purchase it elsewhere for a better price if you can find it.

I was wondering the same thing. I am also looking for a laptop with a blue ray drive, but I am waiting for the price of a Blu Ray burner to come down to $200 or $300 (they are $400 - $500 now). So I intend to configure Clevo 570tu when they are released. The main reason I am waiting is for the HDMI port and as a secondary reason, maybe the Blu Ray burner will drop down to my price range. Is changing a optical drive in a laptop something anyone can do? I am located in the USA which online retailers would offer laptop parts?

you can make any drive external. just get an enclosure.

for like 20 bux. slimline or regular.

the slimline work just over usb for power and the regular need external adapters.

    I have 2 slimlines.
