So I tried installing Windows XP Pro 64 Bit SP1 today and I ran into a lot of problems. First I tried installing with the xp disk and after it would be done loading the files it would say "Please Wait as Windows XP Loads" in the bottom left and just loop back to loading the files. I then tried slip streaming the sata drivers and I was able to create a disk but ran into the same problem. I also tried changing ACHI (?) to IDE and that didn't change anything either. The last thing I could think of to try was to also slipstream SP2 into the installation disk. Every time I selected the .exe it would extract in nlite but then I would get an error asking me to check to make sure 2 things are being followed. I don't remember exactly what they were, but I was pretty sure I was doing it right. Any advice?

try downloading an image with sp2 already slipstreamed (from bittorrent), then slipstream the sata drivers. All legal as long as you use a legal key

Are you trying to install a retail or OEM version of XP 64bit?

Ok, some updates:
1.) Tried installing a torrented XP 64 Bit SP2 with and without slipstreamed drivers
-Same thing, gets done loading files, say's Windows Is Loading and immediately reboots and loads files again
2.) Tried installing the XP 32 Bit SP2 that I have and it got past the loading windows stage to where I need to press enter to continue installing etc,
-Successful, but I don't really want to install the 32 Bit version
So, it looks like it has something to do with installing the 64 Bit OS. I ordered my cd's from e-academy (Colleges partner with Microsoft to get free software). So, any idea what's going wrong or what needs to be changed? -
My HDD is a 200gb SATA II 3Gb/s if that means anything to you.

You can't install it because the power that be are telling you not to. Install Vista 64. More support. Don't fight change.

I have my reasons to uninstall Vista 64 and dual boot with XP 64/ Vista 32. -
What laptop do you have?
On my D901C all I did was get a 64bit SP2 corp version (bittorent), slipstream the RAID drivers, then I installed it on the RAID, and then I accidentally went to sleep while it installed.
When I woke up, it had already rebooted and was sitting at a desktop waiting to be used, lol. -

Maybe you need to use a torrent to download xp 64bit with sp2 already streamed? I don’t see why you can’t install the 64bit with the HDD set to IDE, that’s strange. If you performed the slipstream correctly, then you shouldn’t have a problem loading the drivers for a SATA install.
