    Can't O/C the 7800GTX in my 5720?

    Here's an odd scenario...

I can't get my 7800 to keep any overclock settings I try. I can adjust the settings with no trouble. However, once I re-open the Nvidia panel, the settings always return to their default value (410/1.10). Yes, I always click Apply before closing the Nvidia panel, but the settings NEVER stay as I adjusted them. Is there some kind of lock on the 7800 that prevents overclocking? I've read that Dell "locks" the BIOS in the M170, preventing overclocking. If this is true, can it be unlocked?

    Thanks for any advice!

Interesting. I wonder how others are O/Cing their 7800s to get those high 3DMark05 scores they claim if the BIOS is locked. I'd ask, but I'm banned from NBF. HA!!

I was a big poster there in 2003-04, but I got into a major feud with Adam over their censoring of posts. I made him look like the idiot he really is and he banned me. I'm still trying to put together my shattered life. I need a group hug. :p :p :p

    *HUG*

I'm glad NotebookReview doesn't give too much oversight to sellers. Honest feedback is important.

    Awww...*group hug* :p

Yeah, that's why I don't like NBF - I post occasionally in the Sager forum, but that's it. The way it is censored by all the dealers, and whoever else....intimidating.

You are always welcome over here Jack!

Oh, I know it's not necessary to O/C my 7800. It wreaks havoc on every game at the highest settings. I'm just curious about why I can't O/C it.
