Hi guys,
I can undervolt my CPU via the fairly poor OC utility provided with the laptop/Control Centre, but it always seems to reset when I restart. I've had a look in the BIOS, and I can see the options I need, but I can never get the voltage value below 0 despite it clearly giving the range as -500 - 500.
I can turn it up, but not down. What am I doing wrong?

The option is not available in the stock BIOS.

This is common behavior on the stock BIOS, but I can't speak for a modded one. If you're seeing the voltage options you said you need in the BIOS setup utility, I'm guessing you're using the PREMA mod, in which case you may want to confer with Prema directly.

Nope, there are some stock BIOS with more options...which doesn't mean that they are not constrained of blocked from working...most DM-series BIOS force an under-volt of 100mV- and hence the voltage option isn't working.
Those user like the one above should use Throttlestop to change it in OS.
P.S.: In the PremaMod version those changes also work on BIOS level as that was something that had to be fixed...Last edited: Dec 19, 2017KY_BULLET, martin darlington, Papusan and 2 others like this. -

It was introduced in the KM series onwards as a standard option.

any pointers on what is a good setting to start with , as i have a HID prema bois current , i7 6700k delid , 64gb ram .... -

Start from stock and start dropping the voltage if you are looking to undervolt.

where should i start of undervolting ...

From the beginning, drop a step, test and repeat until a failure occurs then raise it a couple of steps.

i am not sure how to start that is my issuse , what do i use the bios or the clevo app or intel app or other??

It's up to you which one to use. But don't use a combination as it could cause miscalculations from one offset over another. I'd say the easiest to use is Throttlestop, but if you have PremaMod that probably has more features. Intel also has a large set of features, and I believe that it's usually tied to the clevo app unless you set it to not be installed with the clevo control center. The stock BIOS is probably the most barebones of all the methods. I think stock bios has an option somewhere under overclock tab. I personally use Throttlestop so that voltages aren't saved if something goes wrong and I'm just used to using it across different computers.
For reference, my last 6700k could hit -110 Mhz undervolt stable at 4.3 Ghz all cores. But how much you undervolt greatly depends on how much you intend to overclock; usually the higher the overclock, the less you can undervolt or else BSOD will be a frequent occurence. Pick your clock speed, and then like Meaker@sager said undervolt in small increments of, say, 5 Mhz. -

It also depends on your chip, some will undervolt more than others.
