Is there anyway of making my Nvidia 680m Optimus output my games in 3D over the HDMI cable? I can't seem to get my TV to find a 3D signal from the laptop.

I have a HP 8200 Elite Ultra Slim with a Intel HD 3000 chip set and that can run Movies in Power DVD 3D but my $2500 laptop wont run 3D games over HDMI?

Anyone been here and seen this>?

    My TV = Vizio e42d0-a0

    Laptop = NP9150SE with Nvidia 680m

TV streams 3D content via DLNA no problem using the SBS mode.

I would love to be able to game using SBS from my laptop outputting to my TV over HDMI 1.4

    Anyone help?

If you need more info let me know.

    Thanks

Is it a true 120hz Nvidia 3d vision certified display? Did you buy the 3d gaming software from nvidia?

True 120hz TV have it working in all over methods but gaming... Buy what Nvidia software ? I tried the trial of Nvidia 3DTV play if thats what you mean.

    Edit:

Also im not using Nvidia 3d vision glasses and setup, I'm trying to output my games as SBS 3D so my TV will convert it and use its passive glasses like it does everything else.

    Is this not possible?

If i use iZ3D on my other laptop which is a cheap Toshiba it works just fine.but iZ3D wouldn't work on my Sager clevo and cant get it to work any other way when gaming.

Yeah I've tried that and also all over stuff and cannot for the life of me get it to work... its as if the laptop doesnt send a proper 3D signal so the TV doesnt regconize it.

I could be wrong, but maybe it's because it doesn't detect an emitter on your machine or a 120Hz screen as your primary monitor and thus it feels 3D is not possible and won't properly work? I'm just guessing, but it could be so.

Could be I guess. I have pretty much tried everything. If i use Power DVD and turn on the 3D option it works fine, but no matter what I cannot seem to get games to work in 3D :(

Is this supported by Optimus? Remember, on Optimus laptops NVidia card will have to work together with Intel iGPU/driver to pass over the 3D video content.
I thought I've seen a whitepaper somewhere that such 3D support is only in "future plans" for now.

Are you on Clone or Extend? IE: Have you tried setting the TV to be the only video output?

Also try the Force TV Detection button in the nVidia options (if it's still in there) and see if it shows additional options.

Are you sure you have 1.4 cable? Some 3d video sbs will work with 1.3. When I first bought my lg 3d tv playing through Yamaha receiver 3d gaming worked on Xbox but not ps3, turned out to be Yamaha receiver was 1.3hdmi. I haven't tried my. 17x with tv yet I'll let you know how it goes

There is no such thing as a 1.4 cable ;)

There are HDMI cables that have ethernet support in them, i think thats what he means by 1.4. Some older HDMI cables dont have it and its required for 3D.

Thanks, let me know how it works for you.

That is true but they call cables 1.4 that have the following features. 1.4 is the standard they work on, but not the cables themselves :)

Supports the HDMI 1.4 specification: 3D Over HDMI, Ethernet Channel, Audio Return Channel, 4k x 2k Resolution Support

The HDMI Ethernet Channel feature will require a new cable that supports this functionality, either a Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet or a High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet, depending on the maximum resolution to be supported. The Automotive Connection System will also employ a new class of cable, the Standard Automotive HDMI cable, which is designed specifically for automotive use. All of the other new HDMI 1.4 features will be compatible with the existing categories of cables.

    Exactly

Any ideas hutsady how i can get this working? As even the on board Intel HD chip set says it can push out 3D signals on Intel's sites so it HAS to be possible via the Nvidia working through the Intel :S

Really would love to get this working...

Specs on Intel site are purely theoretical. In most cases actual systems never achieve these specs completely, supporting all of them requires quite an effort of system implementer & sometimes additional chips.
Supporting 3D by optimus requires joint effort of Intel & NVidia, since they have to figure out mechanisms to pass 3D image stream from dGPU to iGPU - its trickier than just copying of 2D frames as Optimus does now.
I haven't heard of Optimus laptops with 3D output support yet.

Hmm if my Toshiba $400 laptop can do this on a Intel 2000HD/ATI nub card combo can do this, I would be very surprised if a laptop like the 9150 can't do this :S...

    I'll keep trying

I dont know whats quite not right on it. When i set up my desktop to my 3D TV i just got 3D Play, followed the set up then it was good. Played for a little bit then stopped doing it. While i love my 3D movies i dont get into 3D gaming as much.

You got 3D Play as in the Nvidia 3DTVPlay?

Hmm i tried that in the trial version and nothing changed in my Nvidia Control Panel. No extra options or anything :(

Yah thats the one i used, the free download trial version. I quit using it pretty soon after installing it but if i remember right it ran independent of Nvidia Control panel. Could be wrong though.

Hey, so I plugged my m17x into lg 3d tv, opened nvidia control panel then enable 3d and ran the 3d set up. All good without a hitch. Using high speed hdmi cable. Latest nvidia driver also.
