So I happen to have two Momentus XT 500 GB drives around and thought it might be fun to use them in RAID 0.

There's a slight problem though - I can only select "Recovery" mode in the Intel RAID BIOS when I try to create the volume. The screen says to use the up and down keys to change RAID mode to 0 or 1, but nothing's happening. Just "Recovery".

I suspect I'm just being incredibly stupid here, what am I doing wrong?

I have a NP8150 which is the same as the P150HM, I believe)and they are unable to use RAID. I think only the multiple bay laptops such as the NP8170 (not sure what the new EM model is called) have RAID enabled. IIRC it is disabled in the BIOS.

I know Mythlogic got RAID working on the P150EM but they may use a different BIOS than Sager, I'm not sure.

just noticed you had a mm-vision, beautiful move ;)

anyways, I'm not sure... but as far as I remember it's only the mSATA + main HDD/SSD drive can be put in RAID 0, and that's when both are active.. not sure at all really :p

Mythlogic does custom roms for their systems, so it is possible they just enabled via the bios. Unfortunately I do not see any custom bios' out there right now for the P150EM / P170EM.

Yea we do custom BIOS for our machines, and yea we've enabled RAID0 and RAID1 on our Pollux 1612 (P150EM). You can even do RAID5 if you really want (You would have to get a mSATA, main HDD bay, and ODD bay drive all the same size) but it works.. LoL.

Just be aware that RAID0 and RAID1 will only be SATA2 speed, but if you are looking to do it on mechanical drives then its not a big deal =)

I've got RAID working on my P150EM right now, dual 500GB drives. I don't know if the hybrid drives support RAID, though. P150HM does not support it, EM does.

Thanks, that's good to know. So it requires a custom BIOS, how annoying. :(
