It started on last Saturday. The screen turned black, but I could still hear the background music and system sound. I held the power button to turn it off, but not able to turn it on again since then. The symptoms are:
    1. After pushing power button, I can turn on/off Caps Lock LED by pushing the Caps Lock key (I was told this is the sign of CPU passing its initial test???).
    2. ~15 seconds later, all three fans are turning at max speed. The notebook starts beeping. After 22 long beeps (~ 1min), it automatically shut down.

I upgraded it to gtx 980m sli last month. I have tried different RAM/GPU sockets or just leave one RAM/GPU on, didn't work. I have also tried bios reset by pulling out and insert back in the cord of the CMOS battery, didn't work either.

I am guessing its the problem with the mobo. I really need your help!

The symptom you're descriping is when a clevo notebook cannot read the thermal sensors of the graphicscard or the graphicscard at all. Can you go into BIOS real quick and check if your cards are detected properly?

Does the CPU power circuitry get hot at all?

    Alright, that's not good.
You don't have any ways of getting another GPU from somewhere or test your 980M's in another notebook?

The CPU and primary GPU get hot, but not the secondary GPU.

Well I still have my two old 680m's. I can try them on.
But I did play games (mainly PUBG) on my 980m sli for a month. They worked perfectly.

Put the 680M inside and see what happens. If they work, then it's most likely that ur cards are dead.

Well you might be lucky depending on the damage. You can cancel the order from eurocom I think, if not you have the right to return anyways, so no big deal.

Can you take a picture of both cards front and back? I want to see if I can find any damage on the boards. I had a couple of 980M's where the vram broke, they are very very very cheap and easy to fix. So lets see if you have the same issue.

EDIT: Nvm can't be the vram, otherwise your notebook wouldn't beep. Well lets just hope its some minor component.

Thank you for your help. Let me try each of the 980m's first to see which one is damaged. I will post the pic later on.

Alright so far I cannot see any visible damage on the card, however the card is very cheaply made, the components are very cheap. This could easliy be a refurbished card by the looks of it. I don't know where you got the card from but if your other card is anything like this one, I'd say you're in a bad position.

How you have defined that they are cheap?

The parts have that typical chinese look to it, they look very rough and not polished. (Quality parts look different). The ram is also from a third party. Normally the 980m is shipped with samsung ram or in rare cases hynix, yours are elpida.
The numbers of the inductors for instance are engraved onto the top which cheap chinese manufacturers do.

Elpida ram is the cheapest option out there for instance.

Most are going to be assembled in China to be fair, it's not just about a single component selection it's about the entire board.

No, the card in question is probably a refurbished/assembled card bought from a chinese seller. Eurocom etc. do not sell this kind og hardware with inferior parts on it. As long you buy from proper sellers like Eurocom, Woodzstock etc. you will not get inferior hardware.

Indeed, I bought these 980m's from a Chinese seller. Fortunately they do offer 1-year warranty. I contacted them this morning and they will manage a repair for me. Now the problem is that I have to find a way to ship the card to Beijing.

Also, the card is from GECUBE Technologies as described on Taobao.

Another bad news: Eurocom is charging me 25% restocking fee + shipping cost from USA to Canada.

All the more reason to buy from Woodzstack. Canadian seller with excellent service and prices.

Id just sell those chinese cards and get proper ones from him.

It's always worth double checking trouble shooting steps before ordering expensive hardware.
