I've had my 5760 for some time now, and since I had to RMA it after a week for it dieing, I've had no problems.
I'm trying to keep my eye on its temps after a friend fried their laptop GPU. Unfortunately, I cant seem to get a GPU temp reading out of it! I've tried Fanspeed, Everest, and even RivaTuner. None of them will give me a GPU temp reading!
Fanspeed didnt recognize any temp sensors other than the CPU and HD, Everest was hardly user-friendly and even when i checked monitoring for GPU, it showed nothing. Riva was strangest of all, i'm monitoring it right now and the GPU temp appears to be hovering between -147 and -150 degrees C.
Now either my video card is running at absolute zero, or something might be wrong with the sensor.Any ideas guys?

if you read the RivaTuner guide Post, you would see that someone else had the same issue
RivaTuner is probable the only program that is able to do mobile GPU monitoring
you want to offset the temp to get it into the positive Temp.
So since you have -154 C, you want to offset by adding 200 C...
therefore making it +46C.
46 C degrees is more like the idle temp. -
Ahh, I am sorry for not fully reading the thread. *bows humbly*

So, something with the nvidia cards sensor means you have to set the offset to 200? Is that number confirmed? I want to make sure I get accurate readings.
When i play Second Life, i get about 53-54c, when i crank the fans to max it plumets to 47. That seems pretty cool tho... do you think it's calibrated right? -
hmm, depends on your room temp too.
I have 7800 GTX, it peaks at 85-86C Degrees with fans on max when i game. (room temp)
But that only occurs in really 3D intensive games like Oblivion and Ghost Recon.
BF2 and UT2004 is 10-15C degrees less.
The OFFSET value (for 7900 Go GTX) is an estimation of 200-220 C.
But others have had a similar to a little higher temps than yours with the same Sager 5760 (7900 GTX) config.
Some OFFSET values are even stranger, like a X1600 that my friend had to -20C degrees.
But the main point is to know the limit of your GPU temp and to be aware if it gets beyond that point.

well i havnt really had any heat issues with this laptop yet, no crashes in oblivion or anything really strange. It's been a real trooper, it's well made.
I'll try out the settings and see. 55 seems kind of low. -
So how does one find out the "limits of his/her GPU core temp" or even the proper operating temps? Will nVidia have literature on it? I changed the offset to -200 and now it reads 55 @ idle. It hits 42 if i crank up the fan and leave it on.

Rule of thumb for mobile GPU core temps that I have noticed is:
Note: all of the following is assuming at room temp (no AC on)
At Idle (auto fan speed):
55-60 C Degrees
At Idle (fan speed at max... Clevo notebooks have this function):
48-52 C Degrees
(Temps at full load are varied on GPU type and notebook designs)
So OFFSET your GPU temp to get it near the Idle temps given.
I'll probably add this to the guide.

Cant determine GPU temp. (5760)
