I've been getting an error message "Superfetch has stopped working" and random BSOD with messages such as "IRQ not less than or equal" and other assorted messages. I re-installed Vista and all the latest drivers and I still get this when inserting an SD card.
Anyone else experience this?
BTW, I just purchased a new NP5793 and gave the 5790 to my wife . I never used the Card reader but my wife is an avid photographer and would use it quite a bit. I remember testing it in XP and I believe it worked but now I did a clean install of Vista for her and it doesn't work and I've done it twice.

I once troubleshooted a similar case, with a Go7950GTX-equipped M570RU. It came down to a motherboard replacement, having either 1 or 3GB of RAM or installing a new SD card reader driver version, IIRC.

Thanks, I have Xoticpc tech support on it and hopefully will figure it out. I forwarded them your reply as well.

I had horrible problems with my card reader ('old' np5790 here). I would get BSoD whenever I inserted a card, any card, SD, memorystick pro duo, whatever, the computer would crash. I contacted Sager and they sent me the driver but it was the same one they had on their website for the np5790 (aug 07) and didn't help.
After later M57xs came out months later, I tried again. I downloaded and installed the np5792/3 card reader driver from the sager support site, and now everything works great.
So, I'm not sure if you have tried that yet or if you are still using the np5790 one, but if not, give it a go. -
I will definitely give that a try when I get home tonight. I already have the drivers for the NP 5793. Thanks!

It could just be a vista64 thing, since not many others seemed to have a problem with it. I have a memory stick pro duo in my phone/mp3/camera, though, and it annoyed me to no end to have to use the usb cord to (slowly) transfer stuff back and forth. Now, I just pop the card in the reader and 2GB is nothing
*edit* btw smooth move with the 'gave np5790' to wife and upgradeI tried that, but instead she just got her company to buy her a dell d630 heh, so I had to just settle for the video card.

It worked like a charm! I uninstalled the old card reader drivers and popped in the CD that came with my 5793 into the 5790 and installed the card reader driver and when I put my SD card in in worked fine. Thankfully that's all it was. Thanks again.
Oh yeah, she's happy though since she was on an older AMD Athlon system I built over 3 years ago. Now she thinks we have matching notebooks anyway -
Would have been nice if they had updated the np5790 drivers at some point, but they archived it pretty quick
