I have a 5796 and am looking for a new bag to tote this baby around in. I've tried searching the forums and have come across a few things but the bag I like best so far is the Alienware Odyssey bag ( http://www.alienware.com/accessories/gear-shop-Detail.aspx?ItemId=17403&CatId=1288#). Anyone know if this will fit the 5796?

I'm also looking into the tombihn bags but other suggestions are welcome. I haven't decided on a backpack or messenger style yet but I do really like the looks of that alienware bag.

About 90% of bags I see now I reject not because of look or style or even functionality, but mostly because they're just not big enough :p

I have a Samsonite backpack, it's far from stylish (and a bit big but hey, it's 17"). It's a very functional backpack. I can't find any pictures of it, but it is a expandable one, black with blue round labels on the zippers (EAN: 5414847027390) can't find a label with a type on it :-(. Will post picture when i find one.
The reason I bought that one is that it's hard to find a 17" widescreen, functional, big enough bag for a few books, and protective backpack here, without paying more then €150.
I would not reccomend a messenger style bag because of the weight of the laptop, especially if you take more stuff with you (or i'm just being a wussy ;-))

My np5796 fits in it, and still have room for the power brick, mouse, 3 books and some other stuff.

    Edit: pic found.

It's a Samsonite SAHORA Business for 17" (and 17" widescreen)

I have a backpack that I use for everything already in which I've been carrying my macbook pro (in it's own neoprene sleeve). It's worked fine for me so far, but I'm not sure if

    1. There is a sleeve capable of fitting the 5797
    2. Is it safe to carry around the 5797 like that (assuming a normal amount of care)

    Anyone know?

It'll fit. It says the m9750 fits, which is a very similar sized (and just slightly larger) laptop.

I would suggest the swissgear "Pegasus" 17" backpack. I have it for my m570ru, and its really quite amazing. the stuff you can fit is crazy - m57ru + power pack + mouse + external HD + fat college books, and its still comfortable to carry. The back of the thing is extra supported I think, so no matter how much you squeeze in, it will always keep its shape on the back side which makes it really easy to carry.
Also when your only carrying a book or two or just your laptop + power pack alone it is still quite sleek and flat on your back (compared to what it may look like on the pictures). I love it :D
