    FYI
Just installed catalyst 14.4 WHQL and my laptop is running smooth as ever, got around 100 point 3dmark11 increase as well.
I uninstalled previous catalyst using the manual control panel, and AMD/ATI folders and registry cleanup. Not a single issue.

Here are my 3dmark11 scores, both normal and 950/1450 OC.
    3DMARK11
    950/1450/ OC

I also had some improvement in 3DMARK fire strike score, around 200 points.
Gameplay is stable and good as well.

so far quite happy with this new driver. I definetely recommend it.
Just not entirely sure if this is WHQL or just stable version of AMD catalyst, but who cares..

I had those BSODs with external monitor as well, i think it was after installing catalyst 13.4 or so, i let it stand since i wasnt playing much, but installed catalyst 14.4 because of that. I have a very old HD4000 driver, weird enough i have a windows update for the driver but when trying to install it it says my driver is already up to date... LOL.

IMHO this guide is the best one so far for installing amd drivers, it takes a bit more time but it has never failed me, i dont recall te site i got it from, so i will copy it here.
In my case my hd4000 driver is 9.17.10.2932 from DEC 2012. If you have another i assume it would work fine. If you do want to update the HD4000 its almost always better to do it before uninstalling and reinstalling AMD's
    So here is the guide:

    good luck

PS: and no more external display BSODs btw.

Installed it. And now my GPU is running constant at 99%. Thank you AMD, the whole 7970m experience have been wonderful.

Do you have ULPS enabled? If you have it disabled, that might be your source for the 99% utilization bug. At least it was for me.

It seems that it only concerns league of legends right now. So it might be a problem with their software (god knows they have enough).
I have not disabled it, so if it is enabled from default?

    Edit:
Belay that, it happens to steam games too (even when steam is just up, with no game running).

Damn, no idea what could be wrong then. Perhaps a clean installation is in order? A new AMD driver should be released very soon due to Watch Dogs :
