D900F specs (other than having Core i7) and chassis still looks like the D901C... however I think there is only a single GPU... will confirm soon.

There you have it the world's first Core i7 notebook. :)

Very nice! I also hope the do put three RAM slots in it.

I am wondering, since it is probably going to be a single GPU, how will the chassis change compared to the D900C?

Hands on with the Clevo M980NU

Looks awesome! though I'm a bit skeptical of the Keyboard layout...

Also, you can forget about MXM 2.x in this thing, looks like it'll be using MXM 3.0...

The M980 NU review was sick man, thing looks good. I wonder why they are going single gpu on the D900f? Maybe the new 280 gtx cards cant fit on a 17"?

Probably because they're returning to the original design of the D900 series. Single GPU with desktop CPU.

The chassis looks identical to my D901C, very curious as to how it looks inside.

Lets hope so also. Triple channel DDR3 has proven quite successful compared to dual channel.

True...from the little reviews i've seen Tri seems to definitely have an edge over the Dual RAM Slots. But from the Specs here it may not have three slots. [I know those specs are not final]...nevertheless 8GB of RAM should be more than enough memory for any task. :D

One hardware feature I wished they would have implemented is a Built-In Finger Print Reader. I could live w/ out it though...but that would've been the Icing on the cake! :p

One of the main reasons I went with the NP5796 over the D901C was the fingerprint scanner. I love it. That and Turbo Memory, but with 7 being so efficient with everything, I would not miss it.

I can't really get my N80vn to scan properly.

The D900F keeps the same, dated, kinda ugly, chassis design as the D901c...That's just lame Clevo.

Hard to decide which to upgrade to!

The M980NU has the 9400m chipset, which I like many times over the PM45 chipset, and 18.4in screen, 3x HDD, SLi GTX280m gpus, and support for the QX9300.

Whereas the D900F has Core i7 and triple channel ddr3, which I think is all its got over the M980NU.

I am thinking I will have to hold off on Core i7 for now, sadly, seeing that I do need battery life.

What are we thinking for launch dates? Q2, Q3 perhaps?

Very sexy indeed! I'm still happy with my D901C though; even if I had waited that year more, the D900F would probably start out at a so high price, that I'd need to wait for another half year. Awesome news with the i7 processor though!

Another note, each system I've used with the nvidia 9400m chipset have been extremely friendly toward overclocking. With as much room as the m98 has, I'm think I'm feeling some good OC times ahead.

I want some good M980NU pics (and the other notebooks) if someone can get them.

Did you check out notebookcheck.com? They have a LOT of pictures of the M980NU. They even have it with the cover off and stuff and already did some benchmarks on it with a single GTX 280M + X9100.

the d900f appears to be a step backwards.

-single gpu solution (what will happen to all that space for the 2nd gpu?)
-looks like the vga was replaced with hdmi
    -no lighted keyboard already?
-no solid glass lcd panel already?
    -no full keyboard?

not sure what the gameplan is here. if someone can simply take a picture of the back of the unit i am curious of the 2nd gpu fan grills are still there.

The M980NU looks like its going to be a real killer. The D900F isn't that good anymore especially with single GPU. We just have to wait for the price now.

I think I like the Clevo D900F with Core i7, single GPU, and 3 HDDs... for my purposes.

Like the original D900's .... best desktop CPU, single GPU, multiple HDDs.

I really like the 8 threads that can be utilized for heavy rendering/editing/converting for pro-media professionals.... having a good GPU for good gaming... and ultimate mobile storage.

    A great all-around mobile workstation.

The Clevo M980NU is definitely made for gaming indeed.

it's better at doing cpu intensive applications. so if you dont game. this is the way to go.

if you game, then the m98nu is your best bet...unless there is an option under it to add a second gpu...(wishful thinking) but if so...im all over that. but if not...think i may wait for the next i7 or just grab a m98nu...but if it has no over clocking...i wont grab any....

but we must have to see full review of D900F to decide
still i will not have the money until the end of the year :(

End of the year? Why are you even considering anything now? By the end of the year Capella equipped notebooks will be pouring out of manufacturers, packing GPUs a lot more powerful than the GTX 280M.

I totally agree w/ u guys...The main reasons for me wanting the D900F is because of that Intel i7 975 Extreme processor and Triple HDD compartments. I am not into PC gaming really so this sexxy beast having one GPU is perfect for me. IF the M980NU had at least two HDD compartments and a desktop processor such as the i7 975 I would have definitely be leaning towards it. And yes the D900F has the same look as the D901C but if the naming code for it is D 900F what would you expect...afaik those numbers represent the chasis type so it's bound to look the same. Either way, w/ that much power under the hood the looks is transparent. :D And they do say love is blind!

Edit: Dang the M980NU supports 3 HDDs as well. Link
