Given the recent wave of reassurance we have seen with respect to the much hoped for and highly anticipated 9800gtx sli, we ought to track its progress from the day the 9800gtx is released :) Would be interesting to see which resellers are the first ones to start offering the sli versions. Feel free the post and ideas  , doubts  , or cries of joy :D

    9800gtx sli FTW!!!

It might just happen that Dell goes straight to 9800gtx too, given that 9800gt was no substantial improvement compared to 8800gtx.

In the meantime Dells is rolling over its seemingly never ending "1-month special offer" to get rid of as many 8800gtx's as possible...

Now that nwe models come out for the video card, can I get a 8800GTX for a reasonable preice? Say less than 300 $.

There is still no ETA for the 9800GTX SLI, except sager website states "End August" for the single 9800gtx.

    @ Pasoleatis

I wouldn't reccommend getting the 8800gtx since the 9800gt is the same rebranded card but offered at a reduced price. That's why all the notebooks who used to have 8800gtx and switched to 9800gt went down in price significantly.

In other words, I would think that getting a 9800gt is the cheapest way of getting a 8800gtx, if you see what I mean.

I already have one 8800m GTX. If the second one would be cheap I would be tempted to get another one and set a SLI.

Ohh, in that case you're of course better off getting a second 8800 than a whole new set of 9800. But I'd still double check it, you never know :)

Is single 9800m Gtx supposed to be better than 8800m gtx in SLI?

No, that's definitely not the case. There's no benchmarks yet, but I don't see it happening.

My first guess would be no, since SLi configuration is in a whole different power league than the single card. The 9800gtx hasn't actually been released yet, but I really doubt that it could "single handedly" beat the "dual wielding" 8800gtx...

I'm sure somebody will be able to post a more quantifiable answer than mine, rest assured :D

GPU performance in order from lowest to highest:

    single 88GTX/98GT
    single 98GTX
    SLI 88GTX/98GT
    SLI 98GTX

so as already mentioned, SLI 88GTX/98GT will beat a single 98GTX but SLI 98GTX will beat everything (apart from a desktop) :)

If it gets cheaper I might buy another 8800GTX. Maybe in a few months, if the price gets below 300 euro.

Can't wait for the 3D Mark scores to come out!

In theory the retailers should be able to have some scores pretty soon I guess?

Well, fact is, patience has paid off, 2 more weeks and the SLI beasts are shippable \o/

Thanks DarkSmiley. Hopefully the SLI combination will give some noticeable difference comparing to good old 9800GT :)

In the morning or in the afternoon?

Morning would be cool since maybe they they will launch a September Morning Edition signed by Neil Diamond. Furthermore, packed with an HTC Diamond too :)

for an extra 1000$, they better be real performance difference here, otherwise it is not a great bargain than the 9800 GT SLI

From what I've heard, som benchies should be leaking out in the next two weeks before the official release of the gtx sli (mid sept)...until then it would be rather silly to pre-order the 9800gtx sli although it is already possible to do so...

hahahahahahahah ... wow. I dont know what to say. Powernotebooks and XoticPC have the 9800GTX SLI option available for $1200 .... wow. thats just funny :D

Lets get ready for many new threads about ... "is the GTX SLI really worth $700 more"

    P.S.
I wonder what alienware and dell will be charging for those. I really hope it would come close to the $2000. I m sorry guys but some things are just so stupid that are simply funny :D

Not worth it in my eyes, a $1200 option c'mon man that's just crazy I was on the fence about getting dual 9800M GT's but THOSE are well worth the price, much more resonable.

Well yeah if you find one you can afford but here in the US the cheapest one I found was a little less than $400.

we wont really know if its worth it until we see benchmarks will we? To put it in comparison, how much was the price difference between a single 8800M GTX and a 8800M GTX SLI when it was released?
