I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and since then my brightness function keys are no longer working, as well as my fingerprint scanner which has been a bit frustrating. I've checked all the drivers and they appear to be up to date, and the hardware still registers on the device manager. I have a Malibal P150HM, does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried redownloading the hotkeys driver and the touchpad driver?

I have, although I didn't see a specific hotkey driver so I only did the keyboard driver. Updating the driver for the touchpad didn't help and the newest driver for the print scanner itself is 2 years old.

The hot keys driver should be the one that controls the screen brightness, it should say "hotkey" check with your reseller on their site for this driver. The touchpad driver should be the one controlling your fingerprint scanner. Are you getting the issue when you try to setup the unlock with your fingerprint? It could be possible the previous settings didn't carry over for some reason and you would need to reset it up.

The issue pops up when I try to use the settings I had before, and previously when I would swipe my finger on the scanner it would bring up login credentials. I checked my seller's site but they're pretty out of date with their drivers: http://www.malibal.com/notebooks/drivers/index.htm. Perhaps I'll have to live with it, I can deal with not having the fingerprint scanner but it's a bit of a bummer having the screen at full brightness all the time, especially since I work in a dark environment.

Did you try the drivers matrix leader loaded?

If you right click on the battery you should be able to adjust the brightness of the display by going to the power options.

Thanks, I didn't know that, but when I tried to adjust the brightness slider in the power options it had no effect on my display. I'm downloading the hotkey driver that matrix leader provided, the control center is a dead link for me.

So when you right click the battery icon on the task bar is there an "adjust screen brightness" option? What does it do when you adjust it through there?

I would do a clean install with Windows 10 drivers only. That's what I did. I didn't find the Windows 8 to Windows 10 upgrade that smooth on this laptop.

When I click it, it brings up "power options" in the control panel, which has a slider at the bottom that says "screen brightness." However, moving that slider does nothing. Thanks again for bearing with me, you've been a huge help already.

Oh boy, I was hoping to avoid that. I'll keep my fingers crossed for an alternate solution...

Eh, the amount of time it takes to try to trouble shoot vs doing a clean install, probably less time with clean install. Backing up all your files and movies and videos doesn't take long. Reinstalling your software and settings also doesn't take that long. And overall long term stability I think wins.

    That's been my experience.

Wait you actually upgraded the OS and used it that way?!? Man that is a big no no in my books. It can only bring these little bugs that cannot be resolved.

    Clean Install FTW
