i was wodnering how hard is i to change the processor in the 9262, i have already added a second HD and i hope to be able to buy a new procesor (Quad Core, any ideas? i did have one chosen but i have forgotton what its called,it was 2.66 if that helps) plus some RAM in a couple of weeks.

it would also be nice if i knew what procesors the 9262 could use, thanx

It's pretty easy to change the processors, and the CPUs that are compatible with the D901C are the E6300, E6400, E6600, E6700, E6550, E6850, E8500, E8600, X6800, Q6600, Q6700, Q9550, and Q9650. I've also heard of some Xeon processors being compatible, but I'm not sure what models.

Also, this might help in changing the processor:

Clevo systems in general are easy to upgrade, CPU, GPU, HDD etc.

The Q600 is the best bang for the money in in addition ther is a possibility to make that mode and run it at 3 GHz, ehih wwill put it at a close level to the Q9650 proc.
Off topic how much does it cost the laptop + shipping + upgrades?

i already have the laptop, it came with a 2.33 Dual Core and 2GB ram
i want to upgrade the processor as i will be doing a lot of graphics work ar uni and my current processor is a bit slow.

i will also upgrade the RAM, annoying that vista 64bit wouldnt install on my laptop for no known reason but 3GB shoudl be enough, right?

would it be safe to overclock that much from 2.4 too 3.0, due to heat?

well so far its cost about £1300, i brought vista ultimate (£89) and 320GB HD (£70-80). the laptop cost around $1950 delivered and i had to pay another £200 for the TAX.

marking up a laptop from within UK as close as i could to the specs i have it would have cost me ALOT more. i know i dont have warrenty i have talked to the guys over at Kobolt Computer, in case something happens to it.

thats not bad, when im finished it should be no more then £1,600
i wonna get a Quad Core which is about £130, if i go for a 2.4 Quad Core but i would be looking at around £200 if i went for the q9450 on ebay. would i notce much performance increase from 2.4 Quad Core and 2.66 Quad Core? and 2GB RAM which shouldnt be no more then £50

Which revision do you have? Start cpu-z and go to the mainboard tab. If you have revision D people say it should work.
