I am planning to order a Sager NP5793 with a standard DVD drive but I want to upgrade to a Blu-Ray drive once the prices drops to something more affordable. Is this possible to do and if so how would I go about doing it?

The drives are easy as anything to swap out, just pull a tab on the base and slide a slider and it pops right out... then unscrew the slide rail (2 screws) and screw it onto your new drive and voila!
One thing to note is that if you dont buy the blu-ray drive from a clevo/sager dealer (ie specifically for the 570ru) the bezel (front) of the drive won't match the case -
Who would sell me specifaclly the blu-ray drive I just checked sager and they dont sell them.
-
they are too expensive to buy right now, $500? not worth it

Read my post before you answer next time please.

oops my bad. anyway it doesn't has to be sager, could be other brand as long as they are same thickness. i am not sure it's either 9.5mm or 12.5mm

Okay great thanks for the help.

oh wow, so it is a standard size, dimension, form-factor, and interface?
-
most optical drives in custom notebooks are standardized.
so you can go to a site like Newegg and get any of those slim optical drives, which should work fine in your notebook.
I switched my DVD-RW with a drive from Newegg.
Changing optical drive from DVD to Blu-Ray?
