So I have been hearing that Eurocom is the best option for Canadiands. Next I hear PCMicroworks has a Canadian Program which offers better pricing. Some say to just oreder from xoticPC or Powernotebooks because they have better customer service then anyone else.

I am more worried about price then customer service so can someone please confirmt he cheapest vendor to purchase a M860TU?

keep in mind that's a starting price with a 9600m GT, which isn't actually offered yet. When you configure it with the graphics card which is currently the only graphics card available for this model, the 9800m GT, the starting price goes up to $1894...

There are a bunch of threads which are already talking about this type of thing. Just search 'Eurocom' and a bunch will come up. Here are a few which have been helping me decide:

Move over Eurocom! (Canadians? Meet ProStar... ProStar? Canadians...)

Anyone here getting NP8660 from eurocom?

    Eurocom best price?

    just to name a few!

As far as i've been able to tell, Eurocom might end up being around $50ish more expensive than some of the other resellers, but you get the advantage of dealing with a Canadian company, which makes warranty returns/repair returns MUCH cheaper... i'd go with Eurocom.

but remember, you can always call them for good discounts.
However, remember that Eurocom is backordered until prob. mid-September. And it still has probably 100 or so orders to fill before yours.

I live in Ontario and I still ended up ordering from XoticPC. I needed to pick the quickest method of shipment (Canadian UPS Express) so the fact that it assured me of 'no brokerage/customs fees*' was just an added bonus. I was trying my best to compare the prices between Eurocom and XoticPC but if you need more than the barebones Clevo M860TU you'll end up paying a hefty amount more. Bluetooth and Wireless capability are extra, for example.

*apparently you cannot be charged customs fees on laptop purchases.

Best of luck with your purchase. So far I have no regrets, but I just submitted my order last night. On the plus side, it's already in phase 2. :)

Hmm, so I see that xoticPC and Eurocom both seem to be good. What about the ProStar company with their program?

You shouldn't choose one company over another one only for the price. Don't forget that you get what you paid for after all. Shipping across the border is no big deal. It just takes longer (duh) and it costs a bit more. So the only difference in shipping is that it will take longer and cost a bit more and instead of just receiving your package, you will have to pay the delivery guy for taxes. If you need repair, you just ship it back and it costs a little bit more.

Cheapest way is to stay in Canada and to buy from another province so you don't pay PST.

mhmm I see. So if I do the following:

Buy from Eurocom assuming they match the price of xoticPC's.
Pay in USD for even a cheaper price.
Send in this old computer which meets their requirments for their trade-in-program.

I will get the best deal?

After the exchange rate my credit card decided to charge me I paid a little over $2000 CAD for XoticPC's standard configuration + the P8600 25w 2.4GHz processor, a 320GB 5400RPM hard drive, and UPS Express shipping to Canada.

I bought fromo XoticPC for the better customer service. Eurocom M860TU is backordered. I'll just have some troubles when the UPS delivery guy comes because there's no one at home... :(

With regards to the trade-in program, they only offered me 10% off for trading in my laptop, as opposed to the 20% advertised. They need to look at your computer before offering you a final amount of a discount I believe. btw they never replied to me why my laptop was only eligible for 10% and not 20%.

I'm trying a few things to reduce the price on my Eurocom model, but I haven't received any sort of response to any of my questions yet. Maybe you should mail them too:

    1) ordering without wifi card and installing the working on from my old laptop
    2) ordering without a hard drive and transfering over the one from my old laptop

these steps, assuming they agree to removing the price of those parts, would hopefully save me more than i'd get if I traded-in my laptop.
