Absoulute Cheapest. I cant seem to find anything that is NEARLY as good as the P-7811 FX with 9800GTS. Would prefer GT/GTX but not for the Price.

    1. What are the very cheapest Laptops with GT/X?
    2. What competes with the gateway? Anything?

If you're looking to spend less than $1,700, then you won't.

The Gateway P-7811FX is the best gaming notebook, for the price. Nothing comes close to its price-for-performance ratio.

How much are you looking to spend?

i dunno they just drop the price on the sager NP8660/m860tu you may want to reconsider and powernotebooks is having a pretty crazy sale on the NP5793. Both come configured with a 9800gts card, i wouldnt mind spending a little extra dough on a more stable system with Better cooling then the P-7811FX. Price range is still around 1700-1800ish with shipping.

It's actually $1630 with the cash discount (+35 shipping) at places like Xotic now actually for the M860TU. I'd definitely spend the, what, $200 (or $400) extra ($1399 msrp - $1250 is the lowest the P-7811x has gone for lately no?) and go for a much better build.

If you want the 9800M GTX, the M570TU is your cheapest bet, from XoticPC.

The Gateway P7811FX has perhaps the best price/performance of any laptop:
    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4614

The Clevo M570RU/TU will give you a nicer design (read: design, not looks) and significantly better build quality for a bit more though, plus a far better warranty and tech support. I'd go for the Sager NP5793 if you can find it, or the NP5796 if you can't (the performance difference between the Santa Rosa and the new Montevina platform is negligible).

this heat thing is a thing of the past.... not sure why everyone seems to think it is.. the ones with the the new bios dont have a heating problem.. that's just scared mans talk. sure, the gpu side gets a bit warm, but well with in operating temps. usually max is like 75'c under long periods of heavy gaming with an x9000. peopel with heating issues are generally covering up vents. gaming on metal tops and even certain types of desk witll help hold heat in. but running the 2.26 chip that came with it and even over clocking to 700/900/1800 wont even generate above 75, unless your doing something to hinder the air flow. and with a free item siting underneath the battery to lift it up like 1/2 inch does wonders. "all for free" now screen bleed is a different matter......
