    You can do that?
Not that I encourage it but can you return it for any reason without a penalty of any sorts?

    Absolutely.

No restocking fee, and for any reason.

Damaged or missing items, if any, would have to be replaced and deducted from your refund, and your shipping is not refunded...but otherwise the full purchase price of your laptop is refunded.

Free 30 day trial? Main reason why I've never bought a Clevo/Sager is because you can't see them easily first hand. You have me thinking now...

One thing that sways me away from Clevo/Sager laptops - their high price for no dead pixel policy. Like most ppl, I just want a working laptop, surely its merely decency to have the guarantee free of charge, especially cosidering gaming laptops arent cheap?

IMO, you're more than likely to see a dead pixel right away. If you get to return it in 30 days then it means little.

Most companies don't provide a option for a Guaranteed 0 Dead Pixel Screen. Like Mandrake stated just utilize the 30 Day return period and return the laptop for a new one and you are only out shipping if you don't want to purchase the 0 Dead Pixel Guarantee.

What's the advantage of a pre-order? Just getting it first? Will the first batch sell-out or something?

I might do a preorder if I can use a $300 credit card gift card towards the purchase and pay for the remaining balance in cash, maybe getting a partial cash discount?? :)

The advantage of pre order is being some of the first to get the laptop. The first batch it not expected to sell out as far as we know right now. You can always get a cash discount on whatever balance you pay in cash. Multiple payment methods are welcomed. :)

Yes, the UJ-220 will work. You will just need to snap the bezel on it.

No, the Sager NP8690 (W860CU) supports DDR3/1333 memory because that is all the Intel PM55 chipset will support. If you were to put 1600MHz RAM in it, it will just clock down to 1333MHz.

naill, the fans look exactly like the ones on the 57xx series. the gpu fan is very quiet even in full blast, but the processor fan sounds whiny as it spins faster

its by no means a silent system hehe

Last night I was playing FC2 for a few hours, never even heard the fan, with the TV at a relatively low volume. @630/1000/1575, 73C tops on the Zalman. QX9300 in the low 60's.

If the M570TU is the main indicator, I think the W860CU will handle the 280M and even the Extreme i7 almost, or just as well.

Can someone fill me in on the difference between the Sager NP8760 and PowerPro I 10:17 (besides the fact that Sager is on Clevo w/ 17.3 in screen and PowerPro on MSI with 17 in screen) when I configure with same components, they are different by several hundred dollars and I am trying to figure out what I am missing? Is sager(clevo) that much better than the msi?

The Clevo/Sager comes with a full HD screen (higher res costs more) and is LED backlit (more expensive technology). It also comes with the current top NVIDIA mobile card, the GTX 280M.

By contrast, the MSI comes with a standard LCD with a lower resolution (not necessarily a bad thing, but most people seem to prefer WUXGA/Full HD on 17 inchers) and an inferior graphics card (GTS 250M).

There are other differences (the Clevo has a 7-in-1 card reader vs 5-in-1 for MSI, Clevo has built-in fingerprint scanner, Clevo is hardware RAID capable, etc), but the above is easily worth $300-400 in price difference, if not more.

In short, if you want the best gaming rig between the two, the Clevo is better. If you don't need all of that power, the MSI is the more cost effective alternative.

Thank you - I am a software engineer (not a gamer) and what I need is speed and memory, graphics are not all that important so it sounds like the MSI would be fine for me. Any info on durability of the MSI vs. sager - I don't want the hinge to give out in a few years from now!

has anyone received their brand new spanking W860CU? any first thoughts or review coming soon? not really impressed with the german review especially with the lower end hardware.

btw, correct me if im wrong, but did anyone notice that that german guy made a mistake calling the processor i7 820QM(base speed 1.73GHz) when it's displayed as i7 720QM(base speed 1.6GHz)? and the turbo boost shown in the video is clearly 2.8GHz, which is again, i7 720QM. check out the last video posted by nacr05.

    Hi all,

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, did not see anything in reference, but I would love to know an estimated battery life on this baby. Justin, when you get your review unit, please indicate battery life.. I need something with a minimum of 2 hours. Thanks! :D

You wouldn't be interested in this laptop then, it has only 80 minutes of battery power...and that is with the screen on lowest brightness, and wifi off. Normally it gets less than 60 minutes. That said, it looks to be a great desktop replacement...just make sure you have someplace to plug it in.

Skylla, both models are still on pre-order status, so none of us knows for sure. Sager's high end gaming notebooks are generally known for very good construction, so the NP8760 is expected to be a solid machine.

I am not sure about the MSI, so it might be worth checking out the MSI subforum to read any reviews on the 10:17 or it's predecessor, the 8:17, so that you can draw your own conclusions about MSI's build quality.

We have our review unit and our initial impression is that the screen looks great and it is quiet. The pamlrest area is definitely much cooler then the 8662. The only place you feel some heat is in the middle of the keyboard. During 3D Mark 06 @ 1920x1080 the Left Side of the keyboard registered at 84F Center Keyboard 99F and Right Side 79F.

Thank you so much for the info. I thought that the battery being Lithium polymer, it would be a bit more robust. Seems like a wonderful laptop though, but I do need something mobile with a decent graphics card.

Thanks Justin, would love to hear more impressions later. :D

Justin, I'm pumped to hear that the screen is "great" but do you have a reference point? Would you consider it one of the best laptop screens out? I don't expect you to have the nits rating on it or anthing, but how is it compared to, say, a glossy Macbook Pro? Or the Dell Studio XPS 16?

Also, do you know the manufacturer? It is possible that the US version you have has a different screen that the german review unit?
