Im not sure if the resellers got the info regarding my question but does the 8130 chiclet keyboard "guard" the insides of the laptops against droplets? or basically the droplets of water will go through the keyboard and into the inside (mobo etc)?

Nope, they don't offer any extra protection against spills. Liquids will go down and in around the keys. The keyboards on the P150HM/P151HM1 actually provide an (albeit limited) amount of ventilation to the machine as well.

^ok so when you unfortunately spill water on the chiclet keyboard, it will go straight down to the motherboard?

Pretty much that and everything else in the way. You could try finding a generic silicone key cover if you're worried about spills though.

thanks, can a droplet of water on the keyboard "break" the laptop?

If placed in the wrong place, it can cause a short and damage the laptop, especially if the computer is powered on and running.

i see i thought there were some sort of 'guard' under the chiclet keyboard that would protect it from moisture or droplet of water

you could easily make your own guard if its thin enough and place it under the keyboard, but it would reduce the ventilation provided by the keyboard.

does it "instantly" damage the laptop? when a water droplet enters the spaces under the keyboard?

it depends, because there are some parts of the frame that are underneath keyboard, that can protect the motherboard.

It depends on how much liquid, where it goes, and what kind of short circuit it makes.

I've seen some laptops take a full cup of coffee and not quit and others die in high humidity from condensation.

The important thing is to (perhaps obviously) keep your machine dry. If you do spill liquid, you want to kill the power (AC and battery) as fast as possible without letting the liquid slosh around and cause a short. With the power off, you can start to dry out the laptop. If it's just water, you'll need to let it dry. If it's something that can get sticky, you'll need to disassemble and clean it before trying to use it.

Consider getting accidental protection from your retailer, or a rider on your home/renters insurance.

Backup your data before the spill.

right under the hjk keys are the cmos and ram slots. everything to the right of those keys is pretty much protected by the frame.

Sounds like MALIBAL should expect a support call for spilled liquid on a P151HM1 tomorrow :p

I personally just carry renters insurance with an accidental damage rider which covers all my stuff.

If your notebook is not on when water enters the keyboard, it will be fine. Just don't turn it on until you are sure it's dry.

Does heavy perspiration count towards frying the internals if it drops onto the keyboard?

i highly doubt that you will find one that fits the clevo keyboard. why not just take the keyboard out, and put duct tape underneath it to insure a water droplet proof seal. better yet use foil tape, its the best in my opinion, you can even apply it under water.

Try not perspiring with average temperatures of 33 degrees Celsius and humidity at 90%.

I don't know if this should be anything to worry about or not.. as I certainly dont want to destroy my laptop by sweating a little lol.. Though I think its usually my plam rest that takes the beating and not the keys.. Since we're on the topic of sweating while gaming, how will the palm rest hold up over time? My dell 1530's left side looks like I took sandpaper to it after 4 years lol
