Can anyone write up a complete and detailed guide to doing a complete, clean reinstall of Windows Home Premium 64bit on the Sager 5792. I am thinking of doing one when SP1 comes out, and have done it before for 32bit Vista on a Dell, but I would just like to have a nice guide for the Sager and 64bit, from someone who has done it succesfully.

    Thanks alot!

    Thanks,

but if anyone with a sager specifically can help out, I know sometimes certain systems have little quirks (for instance with dell u had to install some Hard Drive Driver during installation of the OS) and want to make sure I dont miss anything.

so if someone with a sager, preferably a 5792 can post some sorta guide up. for re-installing vista 64bit home premium thanks! (if justin or someone had the time that'd be great ;) )

I have X64 Vista installed. Its the same as any other OS. Just install, and install the drivers from ur cd, Sager website or CLevo website in the order that is in the users manual

Note: If u need backup, then use a good backup program like Nova before proceeding.

    INSTALLATION
    Step 1. Insert Boot disc
Step 2 - Go to BIOS steup thing and select the boot device to be the cd rom drive. Then reboot
Step 3- Press any key to boot from the CD
Step 4 - A grey bar appears and you will be redirected to this screen:
Step 5 - CLick install now and insert the product key
Step 6 - Accept the agreement and continue.
Step 7 - CHose which HDD to install. If needed, create a new partition. WARNING:!:!:!:!:
Vista uses a diferent form of NTFS File system. So creatinga partition by a 3rd party software after creating one through Vista may result in loss of Data.
Step 8 - Let Vita do it stuff, it will then reboot
Step 9 - Configure ur account.

Step 10 - Start wishing Clevo had XP x64 driver support.

It`s just a guess, but since it`s an original DVD , the cd key will already be inserted by itself. At least that`s how it was for XP in my case on both my laptops when I reinstalled.

You need to do that to not activate again. It's a painless process.

    1. Insert OS recovery CD that comes with laptop
    2. Boot from disc
    3. Let it do it's thing
    4. Presto, fresh vista install
    5. Install drivers/SP1/Games

You don't have to do anything special to install vista 64 home premium using the discs Sager provided. You don't have to enter any keys or whatever, the discs take care of all that automatically.

Do I have to install the drivers in any particular order? Do I really need to restart after each driver? (with the dell u could just say restart later for all of em and it worked with 1 restart after installing all drivers)

    Thanks.

There's a driver disc, the drivers are labeled 1-5 as in starting from mobo all the way down to webcam.

You can install in whatever order you so desire but it would be wise to install mobo drivers first. As in having to restart after each driver installation, you should be doing that with any pc or notebook with any drivers but I guess you can restart later if you really wanted.

Don't worry about it so much, you seem to be worrying about nothing and making it more complicated than it really is. When I received my notebook it came with zero bloatware, I installed Vista SP1 beta right away and have had absolutely no problems.
