Hello everyone. So far my laptop has been going well, unfortunately I ended up getting a new issue. the right side of my Sager NP8173 Laptop is making a high pitch noise. This can possibly mean that I would have to replace the fans. I thought it would be quick and easy to simply buy the parts since they don't cost much, but I discovered that the fans are attached to the heatsink. To give you guys a picture, I think found a reseller of that piece:

Here is a pic of what it looks like inside my PC:

The noise is coming from the double fans on the right.
Now it seems its a bit more costly to get a replacement so I decided to see if I can clean it thoroughly. (More than using a compressed air can). So I ask is it possible for me to remove the fan? I removed the screws on top but the metal plate seems to be part of the heat sink.
EDIT: To Clarify further, My laptop's temperature is fine when playing games and other demanding programs. It just the fan that makes the high pitch noise. I have a new SSD so the noise isn't coming from that.

I'd remove the heatsink/fan assembly as a whole to clean the fans.

I don't have your model but if its like every other fan I've ever played with there should be tiny screws or clips to remove the (usually metal) plate off one side. It looks like there are some tiny screws on the top? Some more might be hidden under tape
If you have some wd40 or better lube, try and get some inside the motor. That's shut up that whine for a long time about half the time it's happened for me. Other times it's either not done anything or it's started whining again within a short period of time (meaning the fan is toast so get a replacement ordered asap)
You may be able to just buy the fan by looking at a part number on its label, and not have to buy a whole new heatsink.Last edited: Apr 22, 2019 -

A good lubricant might help with a noisy bearing. IIRC the fan plate/cover is not fused to the heat pipes and can be removed, you just need to get at the small(er) screws that bennyg mentioned.
