Is there any way to get underneath the keyboard keys and clean it real good? I keep my stuff in pretty good shape, but I'm planning on selling it in a couple months and want to give it a good overall cleaning. I plan on opening it up and probably adding new thermal paste, cleaning anything that looks like it needs it. But hardest part is underneath the keyboard keys. Thanks.

Thats not hard at all. You can read the instructions on how to remove the keyboard in the service guide (I don't have a link to them... I used to). You use a knife or a flathead screwdriver to push four pins between the keyboard and the chassis (bellow the speakers and the power button). The keyboard will then pop out easily, and you can clean it with compressed air without having to unplug it.

A member has the link to the service guide in his signature, but I can't remember his name/nick. Grr... I think he is the owner of killer notebooks.

Edit: Also I think your notebook will feel sad if its going to be replaced by a HP Envy...

Thanks for info I did find it though. +1 rep.

Although shortly after I posted this I ended up spilling some wine on my keyboard (I just posted here about it). After a complete teardown and thorough inspection it seems to have been contained in the keyboard and touchpad themselves, but even after a thorough cleaning, they both still act wonky so have to replace them. That service guide proved to be invaluable (for the wrong reason... d'oh!) But thanks!

Know of an inexpensive and good place (in USA) to get a replacement keyboard and touchpad/buttons?
