Hi!
I just got my new laptop which is a Clevo 950HR based laptop with a I7-7700HQ and a nVidia 1070 Max-Q.
I wanted to undervolt the CPU & GPU on this to keep noise and temps to a fairly low and comfortable level.
So far i've used the throttlestop application to undervolt my CPU, and that seems to have worked well, dropping prime 95 temps from 85'ish to 70'ish degrees with -125mv on core/cache/gpu. I still cannot reach as high frequencys as i should, because it seems to be TDP limited at 45W for the CPU, so under prime it peaks at about 3.1Ghz on all 4 cores (3.3Ghz for a while, then it drops down), even if i've changed it to 3.8Ghz on all 4 cores in throttlestop. Have not found a way around this TDP limit yet, but i guess i can live with it.
Now, when it comes to GPU undervolting i'm very confused. I've been trying with MSI afterburner 4.4, but when i run any kind of game the GPU frequency seems to be around 1300Mhz, which seems to be default values for this 1070 Max-Q. But if i hit ctrl+f to bring up the voltage/frequency curve, the curve there goes from 1500Mhz up to about 1900Mhz, but the actual frequencys i see are nowhere near that, so the usual guides about changing that curve makes no sense. Also tried the uni-engine/heaven benchmark, and it listed frequency at 1544Mhz on the first run. I then manually OC'ed in afterburner with +200Mhz core clock, which was shown in the benchmark as 1744Mhz, but the actual frequency listed in Afterburner was still about 1300Mhz, and the benchmark result was actually slightly slower than the first one.
So, i guess the question is, is it even possible to undervolt a 1070 Max-q card, and if so, how ?
Also i have not yet repasted the CPU+GPU, but i'm planning on doing that later.

Does anyone know if it is possible to undervolt a nVidia 1070 Max-Q gfx card in a Clevo 950HR ?

You can apply a clock offset but the voltage control would need a vbios edit (not easy)

Not what i had hoped for, but i cannot change reality, so no undervolting of the gfx card i guess :/
"Clevo" 950HR undervolting
