Has there been any word about Clevo making models with Coffee Lake as well as release dates?

Actually looking forward to having a hexa / octo-core CPU....anything but quad-core thanks!

I can't post it here as it's all under NDA, but if you google the release date you can find out pretty much everything. As always, we will be launching in line with all other major laptop manufacturers, but until the MDA clears you'll only find specific information in leaks.

I fear you've released a MONSTER, Covfefe Lake is going to catch on ;-)

Good if you want to or just bought something now, bad if you are waiting for the next best thing as you will need a lot more patience.

Right now #Covfefe Lake is mainly just Intel's response to AMD`s desktop parts, so you can expect it at first to show up only in the monster type of system.

The difference right now is that Ryzen and especially threadripper now offer better price/performance throughout the entire CPU stack (with the exception of low end R3 lacking iGPU affecting total system cost) so the sandbagged performance gains and staggered product release schedules of the last 5 years from Intel might not be a good indication of what is to come. (look at the mildly disorganised rush job that X299's launch was, for example)

Intel are trying some constant covfefe and paper launches to rain on TR's parade right now is my thought.

grab a used 1060 or 1070 for cheap from somewhere if u can until 2080 sli comes up. tbh 2080 prob just more cores of 1080 still same architecture though.

i believe thats in z390 not z370. 8700k comes with desktop chipset which is z370. z390 and H300 wont come till later 2018 so we wont see built in TB/wifi yet.

How much time uses to take Clevo to adapt their laptops to a new CPU architecture? New models, revisioned ones, etc.

What do you guys think of intel not matching the ryzen 1800/1700 in terms of core count. Maybe they're confident that the IPC advantage of their chip will be enough to surpass AMD ryzen?

Perhaps in single thread, in multithread it's unlikely they would be able to overcome a 33% core deficit.

wahh how is that possible 11% faster in ST? thats another IPC increase or simply because yet another optimization. in ST 8700k is 4.7ghz, 7700k is 4.5ghz ST, thats only a 200mhz difference which should only be aorund 4.4% in clock speed difference. means the remaining of 11% come from else where?

if the extra 11% aside from frequency 4.4% boost came from architecture optimization alone or cache increase then this cpu will be a champ.

I think ST for 8700K will be 4.5GHz
If you can run stock 7700K 4 core multi and 8700K has 50% more cores, where will Cinbench R15 scores land? I talk about 4.4GHZz on all 6 cores. Fully locked down 8 core Ryzen R1700 in Asusbook is around 1410cb.

I can see You don't expect Coffee can handle 4.4GHz for all 6 cores

My old 6700K or my 7700K running 4.5GHz is equal +1000cb in Cinbench R15. 50% more cores if the scaling works well will push 1500cb in CBR-15. Can we expect 4.5GHz with a good 8700K chips? Or maybe I'm wrong? :D @Mr. Fox @ole!!! @TBoneSan @ajc9988

The Ryzen 1600 Asus GL702zc CB15 score is 1122, and perfect scaling to Ryzen 1700 8 cores would be 1505cb - at the same frequencies, but the Ryzen 1700 clocked higher by a bit, so it might be higher :)

I don't think typical Covfefe Lake HQ CPU is going to match the Ryzen 1600 let alone the 1700, but the desktop CPU laptops might get close.
