I have a Sager NP8170 (Clevo P170HM) with a 6990M that needs to be replaced. Baking it isn't cutting it anymore. I think I've found a Clevo 670M for a decent price. From what I've read here, it doesn't sound like it is plug and play.

    My question is:

What are the steps to get a Clevo GTX 670M to function in my 170HM?

    Thanks in advance!

Not working. You have few possibilities: hd6970m, HD6990M, hd7970m rev1.2 that I hear and GTX 680m.

After more research it looked like I could get a 670M from Sager to put in my Sager NP8170, and it would be good to go with an updated video driver with a modded .inf file. I purchased the 670M from Sager, installed it in my Sager NP8170, but when turned on, it stops at the sager screen, with the occasional "Beep" ( BIOS beep I think?), and will not let me F2 into BIOS or anything. What is going on, and how do I get the 670M to work?

I have system BIOS version 1.01.10LS2 which Sager told me is the most current
I have KBC/EC Firmware version 1.00.09SA2 which I just updated from .06 with a file sent to me by Sager's tech support

The 670M still did not work after the KBC/EC update. It still gets stuck on the Sager screen and won't take any input.

I reinstalled the 6990m to verify that everything still worked after the BIOS update and everything was fine.

The only thing I can think of now is that maybe the VBIOS on the 670m is too new? I think I read that after version 29, the HM models don't recognize the cards, is this correct? Can anyone elaborate on this?

The 670M Sager sent me has VBIOS: 70.24.49.00.02 and has a Jan '15 sticker on top of the card.

    Help please, Thanks in advance!

I still haven't solved this issue and would really appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Can anyone verify that I need a different VBIOS in my 670M for my Sager NP8170?

    Thank you!
