    i wanted to ask~
    both are setup-ed the same
has cooling fans at the back and isolated form other electronic device (except for printer)

    however, it seems that
when i touch the clevo 900c's palm rest area (the area beside the touchpad mouse on the laptop thingy), its SOOOO HOT! i touched the 900k one but its not as hot! how come?

you have a D900C??? I do not see that in your set up on top..

    alienware area51 7700
    sager n9750v

Those are both older model D900T and D900K. none of them are a D900C.

These models are not as good in cooling as the new models.

That is why it is best to use the Fan Toggle (Fn+F2) while using them... as well as use a good notebook cooler... Zalman ZM-NC1000.

And always monitor the temps and clean out the fans (with compressed air).

    oh alright
    so its d900t then XD
the d900k seems to be ok though
you have d900k as well right gophn?

    but the d900t is foah....
    just too hot!
like.... the kind of hot where when you rest your palm for 1 sec and you go WHOA (that kind of hot)

The D900T is known to be noticeably hotter than the D900K.

You have to make sure that you can use the Fan Toggle (Fn+F2) to switch all fans to Max Speed... if you cannot get the toggle to work, then you must update your BIOS and keyboard firmware.

And I will HIGHLY RECOMMEND a notebook cooler for those notebooks:
    - Zalman ZM-NC1000

And remember to monitor the temps (mainly the GPU).
... if its higher than 90C degrees, I recommend to clean out the fans with compressed air (cans or compressor).

Listen to what I am saying. I try to give the best possible advice.

I do not want to hear you whining about your system if you do not take care of it.

yes it will fit the notebook fine.

it may hang on the sides a bit, but the footing fits perfectly on the stage of the cooler.

yeah i was just measuring the specs
actually the only reason why i dont want to get those kinds of notebook cooler (the wide ones) is because they dont exactly fit the 17 inch one nicely :(

the one that i got is those long and small ones
(the ones that just tilt the back of your laptop)
i dont know if its good enough~

Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

First of all, overheating issues is mainly caused by owners not thoroughly cleaning out their systems regularly (for this notebook, at least once a month).

If you are overheating... usually any temp over 90C degrees is bad.

when was the last time that you cleaned out the fans and vents thoroughly...?

    if never, then thats why.

    1) remove battery
    2) remove/unscrew the panels on the bottom of the notebook to get to fans and vents (if possible)
    3) use flashlight to look through vents for the dust (if you cant see the light on the other end, then the vents are clogged up)
    4) go outside, get some compressed air (cans or compressor @ 50 PSI) and give the vents a good airing out all directions ( concentrating on the vents)
.... you might want to brace the fan blade(s) when airing it out (with a toothpick or paperclip to prevent it from spinning out too much)
.... or use short bursts (1-2 secs) of air instead of bracing the fans.
    5) go get some Q-tips and swab the fan blades and the area around it
    6) then go do a second airing with compressed air (all directions again focusing on the fans and vents) to push out the dust that was dislodged from the Q-tips

7*) Now go use the flashlight again and look through the vents (shine the flashlight from the fan, you look through the other end) for anymore dust clogs.

    8) Then start up the notebook... and let the fans cycle up (use the Fan Toggle at max speed if your system has it) to push out any other dust that might have been stuck.

If all goes well you should be able to close up the notebook and...

    you're done.

*repeat this step until its cleaned out.

    Thats pretty much it. :)

Just make sure to do this every two-three months... it should take about 15-20min per cleaning if you want to be thorough.

Gaming notebooks are a new thing, you must realize that you have to take some extra care of them over typical use notebooks:

    1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
    - you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
    - when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
    - OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place.. not the fridge [remember to use it occasionally 3-4 time a year to charge and discharge it].

2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
    - ALWAYS use the notebook on a clean, hard & flat surface
    - RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000 or ZM-NC2000
    - check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month or two) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
    - ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating by dust usually
(for Clevo notebooks) use the Fan Toggle to switch all fans to Max Speed when gaming and such.

By doing these simple things, your entire system will easily last for more than 3 years.
    ______________________________

For Fan Toggle for D900T notebook:

In order to get the Fan Toggle (Fn+F2) feature for a D900T, you must make sure that you system matches or exceeds these Keyboard BIOS and System BIOS:
    * Keyboard controller BIOS 1.00.02
    * System BIOS 1.00.03

To check which version you have:
    1. Restart the computer.
    2. If the Logo (Alienware/Sager/etc.) splash screen appears during bootup, press the [Esc] key on the keyboard to switch to the message view.
    3. As soon as the POST notification messages appear during bootup, press the [Pause/Break] key on the keyboard. This will pause the system's loading process and will allow you to view all of the notification messages that would normally appear briefly during bootup.
    4. Locate the BIOS Revision and KBC/EC Firmware Revision entries as they correspond to the system BIOS and keyboard BIOS versions accordingly (see the image below).
