Is it worth buying the 901C now or wait for the M570TU?

I would like to have the eSata and HDMI ports.

    Thoughts anyone?

Any speculation as to the M570TU cost? or a possible release date?
There is zero information on the Clevo website.

Thanks, Clevoman just hit me and seemed to fit since I have been searching for the M570TU like a mad man.

What are ur uses? Do you really need QC, 3 HDD and Sli in sacrifice for more weight and less battery life?

I want the M570TU mainly for external eSata and HDMI but yes, having 3 internal hdd is very nice. I don't know if I would use the SLI or not. Plus quad core support is very appealing. The 901C won't do these.

Not very likely. Perhaps to my brothers to hook up to his 50 inch LCD every now and again but mainly it will stay home. I know where your going, I hate desktop computers. Did you know they suck up as much electricity as a small fridge?
No thanks, plus I'd lose any chance for easy mobility.

I was not going to reccomend you a desktop.... ;)

I was just pointing out that the D901c is 12 pounds. Its by all means a great nb, but it isnt fit for everyone.

The m570TU is a "mainstream" gaming notebook so to say.

Sorry about that, I jumped to a conclusion that I felt was sure to come.

The D901C also only supports MXM III while the M570TU is MXM VII.
My only trepidation is the M570TU release date. So far, it is unknown.
I can get the 901C today if I need instant gratification.

d901c is mxm 4 which means nothing. doesn't mean it's upgradeable or anything.

dell is more upgradeable than Clevo.

If you want desktop power with the option in the future to go SLI and quad core with support for 45nm coming in the very near future. and also 3hdd's and the ability to take it anywhere.

    then the d901c is good.

    that's why I got it.

    the lcd sux alot tho.

but you may be lucky and get the LG not the ato

With MXM, the GPU can be changed. Yes, certain DELL's can do that as well but with a lot more of the machine taken apart.

The 901C supports 45n? I was not aware of that.

I really want the external eSata and HDMI from the M570TU plus having
TPM is nice. Does the 901C have TPM?

just because it says mxm4 doesn't mean crap.

if you read the debaucle that happened before you would understand.

    8800m mxm4 and 7950 mxm4 right?

well when the 8800m came out everyone with the 7950 needed a new motherboard.. so u know how much crap it takes to take this machine apart compared to the dell which is easy.

    no it doesn't have tpm.

dell never needed a mobo upgrade is all.

    mxm doesn't mean upgradeable.

it means the GPU can be removed and is modular.

Where is the thread for the debacle? I'd be interested in reading it.
I was under the impression that with an MXM slot, the GPU can be changed for a better GPU provided the BIOS has support and with BIOS updates, there should be some degree of upgrade option available.

I have had DELL notebooks before and found them to be just like HP or Sony, more screws have to be removed than would be the case with the 901C to change the CPU or GPU.

Besides, not every DELL has a GPU that can be removed and there is not a DELL made that has what the M570TU has. The best DELL doesn't even have what the 901C has. (3xhdd for starters)

Yet the best dell OCes better than a 901C . Clevo needs to let the customers do what they want with their systems. They paid for it ...
Anyhow, the 901C is the fastest laptop in the world. I`d get one if I didn`t have the RU already...

get the d901c if that's what you want.

you are the only one who can make the choice.

we all thought that we could just upgrade from 7950 to 8800, and then lo and behold we needed a new mobo.

and guess what we needed a new mobo to upgrade to quad core.

and guess what agian. we needed a new mobo to upgrade to 7900gtx back when the previous gen came out.

so it's a trend with them.

just know that just because it says MXM doesn't mean anything.

    its removable... that's all.

Then I should wait for the M570TU, it has native Quad Core support.
    Thanks for the input.
