Will it be possible to swap out the Q6700 and replace it with the QX9000 as they both share the same LGA775 socket?
I'm also thinking that the swap would less of a problem due to the Penryn chip being more heat efficient, correct?
The main usage for my machine will be for photography/video encoding work but can anyone tell what games, if any, make use of quad architecture?

We do not know this for now. Clevo hasn't announced support for the new Penryn CPUs (desktop versions). Penryn will generate less heat, which is good for the computer.

Since no official support is given, doing so might jeopardize your warranty.
Honestly now, a 2.66 quad core is not enough ? -

Gotcha. But I still think you can wait until official support. It`s well worth it.

Just wait a bit.

Hopefully Penryn quad core support will be announced soon.
