Clevo 901c or 571ru ?

Hello all,

Real dilema here. I want a laptop to do onsite CAD work for clients.

I know I want an OpenGL certified card from the quadro family. Originally I was set on the Dell 6300 with the 1600M quadro card.

Then I found Clevo. I have seen the 1600M offered with the 571RU and the 901c. I recently placed an order for the 571RU (penryn CPU) with the 1600M quadro. Now I am hearing about extended wait times on the quadro card.

I am wondering if I should go the route of a 901c with the 1600M, which apparently is available now.

So here are my questions:

1. Is there a different version of the 1600M for the 570RU and 901c ? Thus the different availabilities.

2. If I move to the 901c, what can I expect for heat/sound issues vs. the 570RU? I am assuming that the 570RU more quiet? yes/no

3. Is the Quad core going to perform better for my apps (solidworks, maya, photoshop) over the penryn with a 6MB cache?

Please, any constructive opinions on the matter would be appreciated.

the 901c is more quiet... and a quadcore is faster than a penryn... but you have +1000$ to spend on a 901c instead of a 570ru?

I shouldnt say money is no object, but if I am losing money by waiting for the spec'd 571 I will swallow the +1000.

I think I have read in another post that you have dealt with Eurocom. Has everything been satisfactory thus far?

You said the 901 is more quiet. Have you previously owned a 901?

Up to now its been great with eurocom.. there was some mistake but i guess i was the unlucky one...

first they didnt send me my laptop in the first batch because my salesman was sick... so i change to eurocom boss... the same day i change they send my laptop...

2nd they send me a LCD with a dead pixel (that could happen) i sent it back last monday, they receive it the friday at 9am and at 3pm it was already gone... i am still waiting for it, i should receive it tomorow or thursday... the boss itself have personaly looked at the LCD to be sure theres no dead pixel... because if i have to send it back its to a refund...

no i have a 571ru (silver) because i didnt want to go SLI, quadcore is useless in game... and 3 hard drive is just stupid... and i wanted more than 30min of battery...

but people say that at idle or in windows the 901c is silent but the 571 fans work sometime at full speed for some sec and go down... but they made some new firmware to decide what fan speed you want.. probably that if you leave it a medium it wont go at full speed for some sec and stop...

AND! i saved 1000$ lol what is... 1000$ more in my pocket for my next computer in 3years.

If you deal with eurocom ask them for the 10% discount (student)... buy canadian... if something go wrong our law protect you... what the USA wont do

also
-take 1gig of ram and buy 2x2gig somewhere else..
-take the gigabyte wifi card.. better range and the aircrack have a better support of atheros chipset
-OS is expensive, but i wont tell you where to get one for cheap (or free)
-go with XP32, dont ask me why and look around on this forum...
-the silver one is sexy and look professional but the orange one look more gamer... up to you
-the eurocom logo is upsidedown... ask them to fix it... what i didnt know when i bought it
