    Good guess but that is not the reason. You should know better than to trust typo-heavy GeForce.com. The fact that Gamenab enabled G-Sync on notebooks sold with the old GPU ID with the leaked driver in Jan. (examples: Asus MSI) and then again with G-Tools beta that fixed the flicker/dropout means it is artificial limitations like always. As for Nvidia, they can go to hell. I want to see people crack this thing open just to rub it in their greedy face.

    Hey you guys, I am gonna bust this myth. I have an gtx980m(13d7) 8GB. It is a qualified sample, which means there is no lock inside it. I flashed the g-sync one from prema. It resulted in black screen after reboot. I am able to boot inside windows. The card wasn't detected. For more info, go to the gtx 9xx comment session at premamod.com

    huh? What do you mean bust the myth? If you did this and as you say it didn't work then how is that busting the myth?

    oh trust me I never planned on it, I am not rich so I won't be doing much but maybe slight OC'ing and Prema mod after my warranty is up....spent a lot of money not gonna ruin my warranty while I have a warranty.... :) well that and I have used g-sync and I'm not impressed anyways...I am thinking of seeing if you @Prema could help me with some bios eventually, custom to my OC with undervolting... :)

    The thing is they can do all sorts of firmware validation as nvidia and the manufacturers have total control.
