THIS THREAD IS FOR OLDER CLEVO MODELS WHICH HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED AND THUS NO LONGER RECEIVE BIOS UPDATES. THE BIOS FILES IN THIS THREAD ARE THE LAST AND MOST UP DATE BIOS VERSIONS FOR THESE MODELS.

    CURRENT MODELS IN THIS THREAD: D900F, D901C, M570RU, M570TU, M860TU, W860CU, W870CU, W880CU, M980NU, P170HM, P150HM, P170HM3, P180HM, X7200.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR NEWER MODELS, YOU SHOULD CHECK THIS THREAD: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/416916-clevo-bios-thread.html

Before reading this thread, please know that this thread should not exist in the first place. While the option to email your Clevo reseller and ask for the latest BIOS is considered now the official policy of obtaining the latest BIOS, it should be noted that Clevo is the only major notebook manufacturer that has such a policy. My opinion alongside that of other users which have posted in this thread is that a reputable notebook manufacturer like Clevo should make BIOS updates publically available.

    *DISCLAIMER*

IF YOU HAVE A FRIENDLY CLEVO RESELLER THAT CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH THE LATEST BIOS I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO GET THE BIOS FROM HIM RATHER THAN FROM THIS THREAD.

IN CASE YOU MANAGE TO BRICK YOUR MACHINE BY TRYING TO FLASH YOUR BIOS I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUCH AN OUTCOME. BY PROCEDING TO DOWNLOAD ANY OF THE BIOS POSTED IN THIS THREAD AND UPDATING YOUR SYSTEM BIOS AND KBC/EC WITH SUCH A BIOS YOU AGREE TO THIS RULE.

How do I flash the BIOS ?

First you need to get the latest BIOS, generally you should do this by emailing your reseller for it. IF this is not possible then you can still download it from this thread. The BIOS comes either as an ISO or as an archive. The BIOS is made of two parts, a system bios and an EC/KBC.

The latest BIOS will always contain all the updates of previous BIOS releases. The only exception is for the M860TU, to update to the latest BIOS you need to have it already updated to version 1.00.08.

ALWAYS UPDATE THE EC/KBC FIRST AND THEN THE SYSTEM BIOS.

    How to update:

Method I (using a USB stick)
If the bios is an archive then this is what you need to do:

    1. Make a bootable USB stick using zfactor's guide available here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=246530
(Alternatively you can make a bootable CD).
    2. If you have the BIOS and the EC/KBC files in separate archives or in separate folders, copy them to the USB stick but keep them separate, don't mix their files in the same folder. If they come in a single folder/archive then copy them as they are, in a single folder.
    3. Now restart your laptop and boot from the USB stick.
    4. If all goes well you should now be in DOS mode. Type "dir" to see the folders you have on the USB stick. Now navigate to the folder where you have the EC/KBC files, type "cd <folder name>" to get inside the folder.
    5. Once you are in the folder with your EC/KBC files, type "update.bat". If you have your EC/KBC files in the same folder with the rest of the BIOS files, then type "step1.bat" or "updateEC.bat".
    6. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    7. Once this stage is complete, boot again from the USB stick.
    8. Navigate to the folder where you have your BIOS files.
    9. Type "update.bat" to update the BIOS. If you have your EC/KBC files in the same folder with the rest of the BIOS files, then type "step2.bat" or "updateBIOS.bat".
    10. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    11. Your Done.

Method II (using an ISO file)
If the BIOS you have downloaded is an ISO file.

    1. Burn the ISO to a CD.
    2. Now restart and boot from the CD/DVD.
    3. If all goes well you should now be in DOS mode. Type "dir" to see the folders you have on the USB stick. Now navigate to the folder where you have the EC/KBC files, type "cd <folder name>" to get inside the folder.
    4. Once you are in the folder with your EC/KBC files, type "step1.bat".
    5. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    6. Once this stage is complete, boot again from the CD.
    7. Navigate to the folder where you have your BIOS files.
    8. Type "step2.bat" to update the BIOS.
    9. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    10. Done

!!!In the attention of all Sager users!!!
For the Clevo models P170PM (Sager NP8170), P150HM (Sager NP8150/NP8130) and P170HM3 as well as any other CLEVO model using the same generation chipset and/or CPU, it is strongly recommended that you keep to a Sager branded BIOS, therefore just email Sager if you want a BIOS update, they will email you back with the latest version. The reason why this is recommended is because, while you can flash a vanilla Clevo BIOS on a Sager laptop, trying to flash back to a Sager BIOS WILL BRICK your laptop and you will have to pay to have it fix.

There is a method however that might allow you to flash a Sager BIOS over a Clevo one, but this method is very risky and should only be used if absolutely necessary. More here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/675141-clevo-bios-sager-bios.html#post8678736

I just wanted to let everyone know that you can no longer download Clevo BIOS from http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/esupport/MarketDLOut.asp?model=M57xTU&go=GO&type=BIOS

A few weeks ago I bought an FX 3700M for my M860TU to replace my quickly dying 9800M GT. I needed to flash my system BIOS up to the latest version since I was still running the original 1.06 that was on the mobo from the factory, and that version doesn't support the 3700M. I called my reseller who got 2.17 from Sager (the same file that's up top in this thread), and the instructions didn't mention anything about incrementally flashing to 1.08 first. I questioned them, and the Sager engineer said to just flash right over 1.06. I did so, and it worked fine. So, in my case at least, I didn't need to do an incremental 1.08 flash. YMMV.

For the W860CU, I'm pretty sure BIOS V 1.00.18 added support for the 470M.

Hello, I have a Hi Grade M760S (i've heard it's a rebranded Clevo) and I am having problems installing an operating system and believe a BIOS update would help. Please help as I can't find them anywhere and the laptop seems to be useless otherwise.

I would be really grateful if anyone could help me find the latest bios for this laptop , the version I am currently running is BIOS Revision: 1.00.09HI KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.00.18.

Could you also inform me the difference between the BIOS rev and the EC firmware rev and which needs updating.

Also, Would these bios's be able to be flashed without a problem on the HI-GRADE M760S as it is not CLEVO M760S, would it work without any modification to the bios?

I can supply any other version information if needed to be sure that any update (if you guys can help me find one) will not brick the laptop.

    Thank you for your time.

Look on the back of your laptop, on the sticker, the Clevo model is written there. After that we can see what can be flashed.

    Hello!

I have contacted Hi-grade they said the laptop is the same chassis as Clevo but update at own risk.

On the back of the laptop it says Notebook Computer Model M760S and CLEVO CO at the bottom right of the sticker.

Could you point me toward which is the latest update and which would work with this Hi-grade notebook.

    Thanks for your time :)

EDIT: Update, I have successfully flashed the Hi-grade M760S EC and BIOS with the following two:
    ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M7xxS/746S_EC22.zip
    ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/M7xxS/746S_BIOS22.zip

I have a D900C, I have a issue updating the EC (Currently using 1.00.03N) no matter what version I try I type the command, press enter, and it does nothing... just a flashing dash. The Bios updates just fine (using 1.00.22) just the EC I'm having issues. Anyone have any solutions?

You shouldn't update the BIOS before updating the EC successfully ! I hope that your machine is still usable.
could you take a photo of your keyboard; there is two different keyboard for the model D900C, each one needs different EC/KBC.

Hello. I have a clevo m540sr which i had updated the bios to the M54SR_13.WPH given in this forum some time ago. I wonder if its posible to unlock this bios (options, overclock and stuff). Besides the bios only recognices 3GB of ram (of 4GB i have installed) and only in single channel. For the strigs on the bios file i saw on Phoenix bios editor it has the options for dual channel, fsb and the like. Is it posible to unlock this on the bios? I can provide more data and the file if needed. Thanks.

I don't have any unlocked BIOS, I was just referring to the RAM problem and thinking that this could be a non matched BIOS / EC. But seems no, he has the newest in both.

Are you using Windows XP ? You need a 64-bit operating system in order to see all those 4 GB of Ram.

    You can't have 2.9 GB on a single channel. You either have 1 , 2 or 4.

I didn't explain well. Currently I have 2 memory sticks of 2GB on each slot. But only 3GB (2.9...) is what the bios reports (the stick are new, same type and work good cos i tested them separately) and in single channel memory configuration. What most interest me is the dual channel feature cos i have an on board video card that uses system memory to work (I know it eats up memory but the bios should recognice 4GB despite that). So the performance gain on the hole system would be quite big.
Here is a picture to clarify things: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/attachment.php?aid=2568

Thanks anyway! if I find any succes i'll report if anyone is interested Regards!

I'm just wondering if I have the most up to date BIOS for my Clevo D47EV. I know it's an older model so at some point it stopped being updated. Looking in the Chipset Information Menu I have a BIOS date of 2/3/05 is that the last update to this particular model?

    Hello!

Can someone please post the latest bios for Clevo M520N?
    I have version 1.00.05
I have installed Hyper-V server 2008 R2 but after installation i cannot start any virtual machine since it says that i should enable Intel VTx from bios.
Such an option does not exist on this bios so i was thiniking that maybe exist on a newer version of the bios.Does anyone has such an experience?

    Thank you

Hi Guys,I hope someone can help me. I have a sager 8662 M860TU. I started having a problem that when I turn on the pc it would get stuck at the bios window boot OR if it passes the bios, it will just be stuck at a black screen and windows would not boot. I tried connecting an external monitor and still not getting anything.

I would then turn it off and on a couple of times and it would boot to windows.

I tried to swap memory, hard drive and upgrade the bios to 1.02.17S LS3, KBC/EC firmware 1.00.13. Video card is NV GeForce GTX 260M VBIOS 62.92.78.00.08 VBIOS Build Date 1/5/09.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you very much!

    Hi Blacky.

I have the clevo d900f with this Bios :

    Bios revision : 1.00.031N
    KBC/EC Firmware : 1.00.02

    VGA CARD : GTX 280m
    VBIOS Revision 62.92.91.00.01
    VBIOS Build Date : 05/18/09

I have installed 3x4 gb ddr3 1333mhz ram and it says 12gb installed but only 8gb available. Before I hade 3x2 gb ddr3 1066 mhz , now the fans seems to be a bit more louder and intensive. It´s the fact that is 1333mhz instead of the 1066 mhz ?

I certainly need to update my BIOS for the lastest version , to allow the 12 gb RAM being detected , and for others future updates.
What update should I choose , and there is any risk to update the bios ?
    Thank you

Just use the BIOS files from May 2010, those are the latest ones. Read the first post regarding the flashing procedure, make sure to flash the Ec/KBC first.

There is no problem if you are using 1333 MHz memories, they will work just fine. I have 1600 MHz memories running at 1066.

You need to first update to version 1.00.08 for EC and 1.00.08 for BIOS (you can do this directly).

Afterwards, you can update to version 1.00.13 for EC and version 1.00.17 for BIOS (you can also do this directly once you have versions 1.00.08 installed).

Are you certain that a BIOS flash would fix your fan issues? What issues are you having with your fan? If you don't mind my asking. :)

m570ru had a fan problem, repeatedly getting noisy, that was fixed by a subsequent BIOS update. the same thing may be true for your laptop.

does anyone have the latest bios and EC for the d900c/d901c?

The link at the beginning of this thread is no longer usable as megaupload was shut down.

I did a google site search on the two bios threads on this site with no results.
I also tried to request them from my vendor and he was of no help.

ok so I've been messing around on the net and found an sftp link for 1.00.19 bios from clevo and inspecting the link I tried for the 1.00.22 version and it seems to work.

    ftp://sftp.clevo.com.tw/ALLBIOS/D9x0C/D900C_22.zip

can anyone confirm if this is safe to use for the Bios?

The link in the initial post does not work since megaupload was shut down. Unless I missed a different link somewhere else.
