Hey, I am looking to purchase a Clevo barebones laptop prefarably with an nVidia 260m GTX or 280m GTX graphics card.. I have seen an M860TU on Overclockers.co.uk, but this model only comes with an 9800m GTX. I have seen the thread containing all the resellors of Clevo laptops, but only three of them are for barebones kits; one of them is foreign so that counts it out, and another seems to no supply them at all anymore or else is impossible to locate them due to a terribly designed website. RFtech do appear to sell them in the US, but I am looking for UK to avoid any nasty Import tax and VAT charges over here in Ireland.

So, does anyone know any other resellers of Clevo Barebones kits in the UK and/or Ireland? Or possibly in Europe? As long as their is an English version of the website, that would be no problem.

    Thanks, Matthew.

Thanks for noticing. I read only the first half of the message. Even if it is not in UK you do not need to pay taxes.

Some sellers from other countries have english website,or just send them an email with your questions. Even if I do not speak german or swedish I was still able to check in general the price and configuration of my D901C when I was doing some comparisons.

The problem is, the company you buy from does not deal with the customs taxes once they reach your country.
He does not want the laptop to arrive at his door and for the delivery man to slap a £300 bill for taxes on him before he can open the box!

Well I have been hit by some fairly hefty Tax and VAT charges from the US before purchasing items, not sure if I am willing to risk it.

Also, I have already seen that large topic on Clevo system. It only gives 3 websites for the barebones kits. Two of these are useless (Bad website for one and BTOnotebooks appear not to sell the barebones kits anymore), and one is american.. Meaning I'll get hit by customs charges..

Therefore, does anyone have any alternative? Anywhere, excluding America preferably.

There must be somewhere? Where do you all get your Clevo laptops from? Companies that rebrand them seem to be overpriced..

Sorry, MatthewRuddy. There are no known barebones vendors in Europe that I know of. You may want to try calling up a few Sager resellers over there and see if they can sell you a barebones model.

I don't know if the vendors over in Europe do that. You need to ask them yourself. Over here in the US, Sager can give you deals on some barebones systems.

Oh right okay.. Maybe a UK manufactorer might do that.. Wouldn't mind an M980TU case with SLI 280m GTX's :p Was looking up the mobility 280 vs. the PCIE one.. it's only half the spec :(

I sent an email to rakitnotebook.com (Sager reseller in Indonesia) asking for Clevo barebone and they said they can provide it for me with a slight price change (a little bit more expensive). So I'm sure you can do the same with Sager reseller in Europe.

Eurocom will sell you a barebone, but you have to sign up and be approved as a Reseller. The minimum quantity is 10 notebooks.

    enjoy

Almost all Clevo resellers in EU will sell barebornes. I know this for a fact. Just email them with the model you want and they will give you a price.

I just bought a barebones from Kobalt, spec as per sig.

I added the cpu, memory and ssd - fast and friendly service from Kobalt once the 280M was available.

How much did they charge you? Also, did you make a saving in comparison to buying that spec of a laptop from them?

The barebones cost £1612.40, including software and a plugin x-fi sound card.

I already had the cpu, ssd and low latency memory left over from previous system testing and builds so didn't do comparative pricing.

I wanted to try Kobalt as a supplier as they had very good feedback on NBR, and they have been excellent so far.

When did you purchase this? You can get a Kobalt Mojave with the Clevo M571TU chassis, 250gb HDD, 2.26Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, nVidia GTX 280m 1GB and Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit for £1510??

Surely yours can't have cost more without the CPU, memory and HDD? Thats ridiculous?

When did you purchase your barebones?

Surely Kobalt won't charge you more for the barebones than the laptop including the CPU, memory and HDD? Or do they?

    Hi

We took Quilty997's order on 31st March. We may have had a price drop since then but it does seem a little high if you compare that price to the base spec system price today.

It was a "barebones" sale, base website spec but:

    - No CPU, HDD or RAM
    - Added SB Extreme Audio card and BluRay ROM

I'll have the price looked at tomorrow to make sure it was right at the time :)

I think the standard policy for Sager reseller is to sale Clevo barebone with slight price mark-up (compared to "Sager Clevo" stripped down, but you can't buy "Sager Clevo" stripped down).
