FOR OLDER CLEVO MODELS (RELEASED BEFORE 2012) WHICH HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED AND THUS NO LONGER RECEIVE BIOS UPDATES YOU SHOULD CHECK THIS THREAD: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/556299-clevo-bios-older-models.html

Before reading this thread, please know that this thread should not exist in the first place. While the option to email your Clevo reseller and ask for the latest BIOS is considered now the official policy of obtaining the latest BIOS, it should be noted that Clevo is the only major notebook manufacturer that has such a policy. My opinion alongside that of other users which have posted in this thread is that a reputable notebook manufacturer like Clevo should make BIOS updates publically available.

    *DISCLAIMER*

IF YOU HAVE A FRIENDLY CLEVO RESELLER THAT CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH THE LATEST BIOS I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO GET THE BIOS FROM HIM RATHER THAN FROM THIS THREAD.

IN CASE YOU MANAGE TO BRICK YOUR MACHINE BY TRYING TO FLASH YOUR BIOS I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUCH AN OUTCOME. BY PROCEDING TO DOWNLOAD ANY OF THE BIOS POSTED IN THIS THREAD AND UPDATING YOUR SYSTEM BIOS AND KBC/EC WITH SUCH A BIOS YOU AGREE TO THIS RULE.

How do I flash the BIOS ?

First you need to get the latest BIOS, generally you should do this by emailing your reseller for it. IF this is not possible then you can still download it from this thread. The BIOS comes either as an ISO or as an archive. The BIOS is made of two parts, a system bios and an EC/KBC.

The latest BIOS will always contain all the updates of previous BIOS releases.

ALWAYS UPDATE THE EC/KBC FIRST AND THEN THE SYSTEM BIOS.

FOR Clevo BIOS and mods and related stuff, you can check this page: http://premamod.com

    How to update:

Method I (using a USB stick)
If the bios is an archive then this is what you need to do:

    1. Make a bootable USB stick using zfactor's guide available here: how to flash your bios with dos using a usb stick:
(Alternatively you can make a bootable CD).
    2. If you have the BIOS and the EC/KBC files in separate archives or in separate folders, copy them to the USB stick but keep them separate, don't mix their files in the same folder. If they come in a single folder/archive then copy them as they are, in a single folder.
    3. Now restart your laptop and boot from the USB stick.
    4. If all goes well you should now be in DOS mode. Type "dir"; to see the folders you have on the USB stick. Now navigate to the folder where you have the EC/KBC files, type "cd <folder name>" to get inside the folder.
    5. Once you are in the folder with your EC/KBC files, type "update.bat". If you have your EC/KBC files in the same folder with the rest of the BIOS files, then type "step1.bat" or "updateEC.bat" or "ECFlash.bat". If you are uncertain what to run, read the Readme.txt included in the archive, or ask here in the forums.
    6. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    7. Once this stage is complete, boot again from the USB stick.
    8. Navigate to the folder where you have your BIOS files.
    9. Type "update.bat" to update the BIOS. If you have your EC/KBC files in the same folder with the rest of the BIOS files, then type "step2.bat" or "updateBIOS.bat" or "flashme.bat". If you are uncertain what to run, read the Readme.txt included in the archive, or ask here in the forums.
    10. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    11. Your Done.

Method II (using an ISO file)
If the BIOS you have downloaded is an ISO file.

    1. Burn the ISO to a CD.
    2. Now restart and boot from the CD/DVD.
    3. If all goes well you should now be in DOS mode. Type "dir" to see the folders you have on the USB stick. Now navigate to the folder where you have the EC/KBC files, type "cd <folder name>" to get inside the folder.
    4. Once you are in the folder with your EC/KBC files, type "ECFlash.bat". (the name of this file may differ, it can be update.bat, flashme.bat, etc.) . If you are uncertain what to run, read the Readme.txt included in the archive, or ask here in the forums.
    5. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    6. Once this stage is complete, boot again from the CD.
    7. Navigate to the folder where you have your BIOS files.
    8. Here you need to type the name of the ".bat" file that automatically flashes your BIOS. This name can differ from BIOS to BIOS, it can be: "update.bat", "updateBIOS.bat", "flashme.bat", etc. If you are uncertain what to run, read the Readme.txt included in the archive, or ask here in the forums.
    9. Wait for the system to be flashed, it should reboot automatically once it is done. If it does not, then give it some time, make sure the system has finished the flashing otherwise you will brick your laptop.
    10. Done

!!!In the attention of all Sager users!!!
It is strongly recommended that you keep to a Sager branded BIOS, therefore just email Sager if you want a BIOS update, they will email you back with the latest version. The reason why this is recommended is because, while you can flash a vanilla Clevo BIOS on a Sager laptop, trying to flash back to a Sager BIOS MIGHT BRICK your laptop and you will have to pay to have it
    fix.

There is a method however that might allow you to flash a Sager BIOS over a Clevo one, but this method is very risky and should only be used if absolutely necessary. More here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/675141-clevo-bios-sager-bios.html#post8678736

It is not recommended to downgrade any Clevo/Sager BIOS to any previous version. Any such attempt might brick your laptop.

I just wanted to let everyone know that you can no longer download Clevo BIOS from http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/esupport/MarketDLOut.asp?model=M57xTU&go=GO&type=BIOS

Alternatively, you can find them at these sources:

That's very handy, thanks for putting that together.

The models on the list are pretty much the ones that aren't the newest, actively sold models. Pretty much the models with 4th gen processors.

I still need to do some updates, but I couldn't login to my FTP account. It should be fixed now and I will get back to it.

EDIT: All done and finished. Now time to move on the newer models in the main thread.

Hard to say. Officially my M570TU only supports 6GB of RAM, but runs nicely with 8 . You never know unless you try...

I have a problem with my laptop Clevo p771zm-g. I tried to replace the processor i5-4690k with i5-5675c and after broadwell installation laptop didn't start again (black screen, high rotations of fans).
Do you know something about bios for my laptop which will be able to serve broadwell processors?

    I have a Clevo p150SM-A
    Prema Mod BIOS 1.03.11PM v2
    KBC /EC Firmware 1.03.08
I would like to replace my slightly dodgy 980m with a 860m as it will suffice for my needs.
I've sourced one with BIOS 80.04.F5.00.06 Dated 03/09/14
    Device ID: 10DE 119A - 1558 5281
This seems to match the 4GB version from my research but GPU-Z reports 2GB VRAM.
It is recognised in Windows but as soon as I try and use it for a 3d application, it just hangs the application or goes to a black screen.
Do I need to update the vBIOS in order to make it work with the Prema Mod I had installed previously? I'm struggling to find any new information.

Any help would be gratefully received!

I managed to flash my p771zm-g without problems, and I'm now booting up on my old hdd. I have just bought a nvme m.2 ssd and was hoping to install windows on it but it still doesn't recognize it. I hear talk about a v2 bios that supposedly fixes things, is the one in the list that, or am I doing something wrong? :)

I have a XMG u705 (P771ZM) which reboots after 30 secs due to probably temperature sensor or fan problem. I've seen a post on this forum about something similar but no conclusion has been reached, does anyone know how to solve the issue?

Double-check the heatsink seating. Bad contact can cause this, small adjustments to the heatsink and/or thermal pads can correct it.

If it's an electrical/electronic issue of some kind, you might need to talk with your seller. :\

Yes, the laptop reboots after few seconds that the fans started to spin. It seems like an unwanted panic mode since the CPU and GPU temperature are well within their range. I ve also tried to cool everything from an external method (cold air) but it doesn't change anything

@symy17 Check with your seller about both, especially the BIOS. You can also get drivers from Clevo's site or the likes of Intel, NVidia, etc.

Not on the P170SM, no. You'll need to obtain the driver from NVidia, if not a modified driver (or modify it on your own).

Does anyone know if Prema is still active in these forums? I've been lurking around these forums since i bought my Clevo P650SG, but never saw the need for the modified BIOS at the time, but now i want to swap my M2 SATA drive for a nvme model.

I've tried updating to the latest BIOS obtained from the reseller, but i still cannot boot from the drive (i cloned the SATA drive using an external enclosure and replaced the SATA drive, I also tried both M2 slots as it wasn't clear which supports nvme!)

I've tried the Prema website, but there doesnt seem to be anything on it, except for a newsletter signup form which didnt seem to do anything.

Or are there any other BIOS modders out there that can help me modify, if not too complicated!, or supply a modded BIOS that would allow booting from a nvme SSD.

    Thanks in advance.

These are the latest, stock OEM BIOS files available from the manufacturer. They are not Prema.

@Prema is active, but his BIOSes are no longer available to the general public for download.

    P650SG / NP8652 owner

I use bios v501 from clevo and no problem with booting from nvme slot with a SM951 SSD (M.2 nvme form factor) but version AHCI ( MZHPV ) not the NVME (MZVPV)! The NVME slot is the one 90deg to the keyboard.
I uses UEFI disabled , CSM enabled , SATA mode AHCI. my SM951 has MBR table and I uses a first partition for grub2 . (pre reserved 512MB for it , then installed windows10/windows boot manager, then install linux and installed grub2 in first partition. grub2 replaced windows boot manager and windows 10 shows up in the list of grub2, which I made default choice )
It uses AHCI drivers and Intel RST is not installed because not needed. (unlike nvme protocol)

Regarding real NVME one, I read that
It is normal that BIOS doesn't see the nvme storage until Windows creates the system partition with EFI boot sector on it. It is said that during install of windows, it can see the drive, then after install, the bios should see it .

Some says that nvme can only works with UEFI enabled, meaning the nvme driver need to be loaded for the drive to be able to boot. For this might need to convert your original system to GPT first before cloning and also need to add the nvme driver either in modified BIOS (if you have intel system & AMI bios .. https://www.overclock.net/forum/6-i...-support-any-ami-uefi-bios-intel-chipset.html)
using MMtool to insert NvmExpressDxe_4 module to BIOS.(which I did not try yet)
or dedicate a USB stick or HDD partition to be booted first and load nvme driver first such as Clover or Duet (see google)

Someone uses UEFI enabled , CSM disabled with RAID mode and Intel RST .
But for windows install might need to load the EFI RAID DRIVER during install phase
    turn OFF Fastmode

Last you may have a chance with Samsung 950 PRO in legacy mode, CSM enabled, will load the nvme support option ROM located on the 950 pro making it able to boot. (anyone tried ?)

Edit : new finding and error in my statement corrected

Hello everyone, I have a P560SE, today I tried to update my BIOS because of some erros with my video card. Something went wrong during the flashing and now my screen doesn't boot up, my screen stays completely black and the logo doesn't appear. Mashing F7 and F2 also don't produce anything. Apparently I tried to install the BIOS before EC.

Does any one know if there is a way to restore the original BIOS, or update it correctly from where I am?

Hello everybody, i have a P150SM with a french keyboard. With this layout, the Win and Fn key are exchanged compared to the UK keyboard. Bought this computer used with the Prema bios1.03.04 V2 (but without a copy...) and the option to exchange both key is visible in the bios but not working. I tried the 1.03.05 stock bios and unhide the option using AMIBCP but still the same, both key stay inverted wathever i choose to enable or disable. It's not really a problem, but i do wonder if this option really work for someone? Thank.

Apart from the bios you have two other options:
    1. Switch the key caps.
    2. Use SharpKeys to switch them through the registry.
The Fn key is special though and can not be remapped on all laptops, so ymmv.

You do have the be careful with the key caps as they can snap and are not really designed to be removed.

    Hi,

I am seeking you help in term of the bios update of my old laptop.

It is a re-brand of Clevo P650SA (Aftershock S15) and the current bios version - Bios: 1.03.03 + EC 1.03.03.

Would like to update it to latest version available, which is Bios:1.05.01 + EC:10.5.02, Can I update directly from 03 to 05???

    Please advise. Thanks.
