Hope it performs better, but the look is absolutely dreadful. Why everyone wants to make such looking software? They should focus on more simplistic and transparent looks and functionality and reliability rather than on the bling.

it's slightly baffling as to why they'd produce such decent hardware and (continue to) drop the ball with the CCC. It really can't be that expensive in the long run to put some decent engineering into their software, which would really boost their brand reputation.

well most of their efforts regarding their tools goes into design / bling bling / gamerboi virtual RGB :p functionality is only second / last place in their priority list :D

Seriously. I don't really care about the appearance if it works, but this latest release is a broken mess (i don't have any experience with earlier versions, but can't imagine it was ever much better). I didnt buy a Clevo for a polished firmware functionality, and after owning it for a week now, I can attest to getting what i paid for. Maybe they'll get it right in another 4 years...or maybe I'll have a bigger budget next time and can test out the MSI offerings.

Full review coming in the next few days (will try to do video walkthrough), but
Most notable in its shortcomings are:
    - certain settings in the (2 point) custom fan profile are locked unless you have premamod
    - Per-key RGB control module is laughable; no way to save profiles, reverts back to default 30 second 'sleep' timer soon as you close the app, and you have to select each key WITH YOUR CURSOR to set colors. Easier to detail in the video, but it's very tedious to try out custom colors. The pre-programmed LED functions are as gimmicky as their competitors, but way less polished. I'd only ever use them as a demo anyhow.
    - "Basic settings" are...basic.

I've yet to use the "flexi-key" macro settings, but judging from the total wonkiness of everything else, I'd expect more of the same.

So, it still is a bad software.
Clevo, open source it and let ppl do a better job on their free time than your paid engineers.

    or just hire @Prema (Firmwares) / @Khenglish (electrical engineering) / @j95 (driver optimization) / @Mr. Fox (QC & QA "test pilot") / @Johnksss (hardware torturer) already :p

but no, actually, thats a bad idea... cuz then they couldnt just fool around and do stuff no one else does due to restrictions set by their employer  outsourcing it is, then! :D

Kind of like how Linux is so awesome... because it is open source, right? (I am being extremely facetious, of course.)

That said, Clevo Control Center is definitely a joke. I think it would still be a joke even if it were open source. I prefer not to install any kind of unnecessary bloatware. I test modded versions of it for a day or two, then get rid of it using Revo Uninstaller. To be honest, MSI's bloatware was just as crappy. I didn't want that worthless crap on my Tornado F5/EVOC 16L-G-1080 for all of the same reasons. Best to avoid any kind of software like this. Would be ideal if all of it were controlled in the firmware and everything were unlocked and fully functional.

I think Linus on YouTube reviewed a rebranded Clevo model recently that had this control center on it. A few features appeared to not be working, but he didn't really go into detail about that.

It'd be an interesting experiment for sure...a lot easier than open-sourcing an entire OS i imagine, but I'd bet the community at large could do a better job than the Clevo devs have at any rate. The fact that it's been years since their last major update and this is what they came up with speaks volumes about where their focus lies (see: bottom line profits). TBH, if they were able to fix a few glaring problems (namely with fan control + LED key settings), it'd be a lot closer to halfway decent.

Actually it is awesome. The fact that a open source kernel dominates most of the computing world... it's freaking amazing.

Also, open source means I can change the code and improve it beyond what Clevo considers support for a determined model.

Yep, I can't even get keyboard backlight(s) to work.

For instance, on the Eurocom Q6, how does one go about setting custom keyboard backlight settings with CCC 2.0?

    Reinstalling the software helps.

So far, keyboard backlight works but with one caveat: The sleep timer cannot be disabled.

I haven't found a way to export custom LED backlight settings, considering that the new Clevo Control Center has split the LED function from the FlexiKey section.

Also, setting up custom fan profiles is a *****.

Only workaround seems to be setting the timer how you want it, then minimizing the CCC to taskbar. It'll keep settings as long as you don't leave the LED module or close the control center.

And there are times when this setting persists across reboots, even on dual boot systems such as Linux.

Seemingly the CCC nerfs the GPU when it reaches 72°C by violently disabling the GPU clock boost. Thus when you reach those temps ( quite easy as you can even reach them idling with this outstanding cooling solution) the GPU will stuck at 1468 mHz.
When the software is uninstalled, the gpu reaches 90°C before normally throttling.

Here comes: Is there a minimalist utility for Clevo laptops that can handle fan and LED control(s), similar to MSI's silent option?

I mean, Clevo spends quality time making good hardware, but CCC is clearly lacking.
