    Hello there,

My Clevo D900C's GPU recently broke I believe. I get all these weird pixelated things on my screen. I had to disable the first card just for windows to load. And now I'm looking for a replacement, I'm not looking for an upgrade at all, just for the cheapest way to replace it. I use it for work mostly and sometimes casual gaming. Now I have the Nvidia Geforce Go 7950 GTX SLi, and seeing how I can load up my laptop fine when one is disabled ( which I believe is called the parent card? I'm pretty computer illiterate). Would I only need to purchase a parent card? Or would I need to go about buying more stuff? If so, would this work to replace what I have? Alienware 9750 512MB Nvidia 7950 GTX Video Card Parent | eBay

I'm not entirely sure if I can use Alienware specified stuff for Clevo.

    Thanks for your help :)

Better keep going on with single 7950go as you don’t want an upgrade.
One 7950GO deserves no more than $100.

His D900C equipped with 7950GO SLI must be of older revision.

I'm afraid FX2700m may not post on the built-in screen as 9800MGTX/FX3700M due to clevo's tricks.

But FX3600M which could be flashed to 9800MGT fits old rev D900C/D901C , dts and I tested it.

Do you still have them for sale?

Well, honestly I'm willing to spend a bit but I don't plan on buying something like a 280M. I know my laptop is reaching it's end. I really can't do that much while on my current 7950. Barely lets me watch videos.

So what you guys are saying is I should look into a FX3600M?

Have you tried to bake de GPU card yet?

I know it sounds crazy but mine has been baked quite a few times and it's running perfectly ( well besides the fact that it has to be baked ). I know of other users personally that had the same problem with different GPU cards and this method worked.

It's a known problem of a wholeee bunch of Nvidia cards it really does not make you trust Nvidia anymore after they use cheap solder on their cards.

Here is some tutorials on how to do it
Bake your Graphics Card in the Oven Fix " IT WORKED"

Fix your 8800gtx Graphics Card (STEP by STEP) by Baking it in the OVEN. - YouTube

"Graphics card generally run very hot. This causes small cracks to form in the soldiering. Putting the card into a oven at 200 degress Celsius melts the “tin” or whatever material they use, back into place and fills up those cracks – thus fixing the problem."

Believe me you have nothing to loose if you are thinking about getting a new one just try this one first and it will probably save you loads of money since GPU mobile cards are quite expensive.

Thanks gl1tch. I'll try that out, since I really do have nothing to lose. Just the problem is I have to look around to buy some more thermal paste. I live in a small town, where even trying to buy a mouse is hard lol. :(
